Rick Sheridan

Blond and broadly built, Rick carries the look of a fit young athlete. D.A. Sinclair sizes him up as the textbook confident alpha type, taken with his muscular frame and forward manner. After Sinclair converts him, Rick spends a stretch sealed inside ReAniman armor, and a stripped, unmasked version of that cyborg form is also glimpsed before the agency restores much of his human body.

Warmth and courage define Rick. He is willing to put himself in danger for people who need help, which he proved by standing against Sinclair's creations to shield both Mark and William. The trauma of his capture, though, lingered long after his body mended. He wrestled with post traumatic stress, dark thoughts, and a fractured sense of self, and only began climbing out after Donald Ferguson, who had endured something comparable, spoke with him honestly. Realizing that his own defiance had saved the people he loved gave him footing, and his outlook steadily brightened from there.

Rick was welcoming Mark, Amber, and William to Upstate University when D.A. Sinclair first took a predatory interest in him, praising his physique while sneering at the campus around him. That admiration turned sinister. During a cyborg attack on the grounds, William drew the machine's aggression away from Rick, and the two grew closer, but Sinclair soon abducted Rick and rebuilt him into one of his ReAnimen, wiping away his emotions. Facing Invincible in the sewers, Rick was unreachable until William's cries, and the sight of Sinclair wounding William, sparked enough memory for him to break free and help. Cecil Stedman's forces carried him out on a stretcher.

Months of care under the Global Defense Agency reconstructed his body, and by autumn he returned to William's watch at the university. The nightmares and suicidal spells nearly cost him his life until Donald talked him back from the edge. He gradually reclaimed a steadier mood, sharing quiet moments with Mark and William, once persuading Mark to fly a stalled car back to campus. Learning that Sinclair had been handed a G.D.A. post left him shaken, yet he counseled Mark that killing the scientist would have made him no better. Later, when an evil Invincible variant tore through the university during the Invincible War, Rick lifted a slab of falling rubble off himself and William, revealing that a trace of his ReAniman strength had stayed with him, and the pair survived the ruin.
