Attack on the Wyoming Military Base

With the off-world crisis pulling the bulk of the team into space, only three members of the Guardians of the Globe stay grounded on Earth: Rex Splode, Shrinking Rae, and Dupli-Kate. Their forced downtime ends the moment the Lizard League storms a military compound in Anderstown, Wyoming, threatening to level America's largest cities with nuclear fire unless the government yields. Led by King Lizard alongside Komodo Dragon, Iguana, and Salamander, the reptilian squad expects an easy takeover.

Rae's shrinking talent lets the trio slip past the defenses, but the fight turns catastrophic almost at once. Komodo Dragon wears down Dupli-Kate, cutting through her duplicates until the original falls. Rae avenges her in gruesome fashion, burrowing through Salamander's eye to crush his brain, yet she too is swallowed and seemingly killed by Komodo Dragon while trying to back up Rex. Left as the sole survivor, Rex Splode empties his arsenal, detonating a charge into Iguana and blowing Komodo Dragon's skull apart with an explosive coin after having his hand bitten off.

King Lizard emerges to gloat over the battered hero and fires a bullet point blank into his head, then strides across the corpses of his own soldiers and Dupli-Kate to broadcast his demands to Washington. Rex miraculously survives the shot and, still dazed, pounds King Lizard into an unrecognizable pulp before collapsing as the GDA closes in. Agents inspecting the carnage are stunned when Shrinking Rae bursts out of Komodo Dragon's remains, having endured being devoured.

The engagement leaves several of the Lizard League dead and multiple Guardians hospitalized. A funeral follows for Dupli-Kate, where the Immortal grieves openly and confesses how much she meant to him, prompting a puzzled Black Samson to ask why this particular loss weighs on him so heavily. A traumatized soldier is later left to clean up the bodies of his fallen comrades. Months afterward the wrecked base attracts fresh trouble when the Mauler Twins arrive, and it is trashed again during the Invincible War. The battle first appears in the fifth episode of the second season and concludes in the sixth.
