Fall of Conquest

Having reluctantly agreed to join the Coalition of Planets, Mark and Oliver board a Coalition warship with Nolan, Allen, and the newly recruited Tech Jacket, setting course for Talescria. A Viltrumite cruiser ambushes them mid-flight and cripples the vessel, forcing Telia's crew to retreat and abandon the Graysons, Allen, and Tech Jacket. The strike is led by Conquest, who lived through his earlier beating from Mark, joined by a fully healed Lucan and the warrior Kradd.

Oliver charges the old juggernaut for revenge while Lucan holds Mark back, and a chaotic brawl erupts as Allen and Tech Jacket take on Kradd. When enemy enforcers scatter the fighters, Oliver retreats to a nearby barren planet to catch his breath, but Conquest hunts him down. Mark arrives in time to save his brother, sparking a one-on-one rematch that levels everything around them.

The duel is grotesque. Mark clamps a chokehold on his nemesis and bites off his thumb even as Conquest hammers his body and crashes them through the ground. Gaining the advantage, Conquest tears open Mark's stomach and drags out his entrails. Refusing to die, Mark tightens his grip through the agony and finally asphyxiates the Viltrumite powerhouse, killing Conquest for good. The victory comes at a brutal price, leaving the war's key player critically wounded.

Allen and Tech Jacket escape by hiding inside the Viltrumite cruiser using her suit, while Mark, Nolan, and Oliver are stranded on the desolate world for a month as Mark heals over two. Nolan buries Conquest within stone pillars shaped like the empire's symbol, explaining that a soldier who served to the end deserves a warrior's respect. Lucan and Kradd, unaware of Conquest's death, dread reporting their failure to the Grand Regent. Mark's triumph carries an unforeseen consequence, proving human-Viltrumite hybrids can rival pure-blooded strength, which sets the stage for the Great Resurgence. The event is depicted in the fifth episode of the fourth season.
