Sequids Attack

The Sequids Attack sends many of Earth's strongest heroes off-world to intercept an alien menace before it can reach home. The crisis stems from an infected astronaut, Rus Livingston, who was stranded on Mars, seized control of a Martian vessel, and set course for Earth. Learning of the incoming ship and discovering that Shapesmith is a Martian, Cecil dispatches The Immortal, Black Samson, Monster Girl, and Rudy to collect Invincible, while Rex convinces Atom Eve to rejoin the Guardians. The confrontation directly sets up the later Sequids Attack Earth.

Boarding a shuttle with Invincible and Eve, the team is fired upon the instant the Martian ship detects them, and Eve's shield barely saves everyone. Once they breach the vessel, an accidental strike from Bulletproof kills a single Sequid and, through the swarm's shared hive mind, summons the entire colony. The heroes are overwhelmed, and both Robot and Eve are briefly infected before an EMP device frees them. Robot's sonic disruption and an improved machine eventually subdue the possessed Rus, and Invincible insists on delivering the final blow himself.

Escaping the Martians, who demand Shapesmith's execution for endangering them, the Guardians crash the stolen ship at the Global Defense Agency and gather to recover. The aftermath is somber, marked by Dupli-Kate's funeral, where The Immortal grieves openly over how much she meant to him. Back home, Rus cleans his wrecked apartment and vomits into his sink, only for the surviving Sequid to crawl free and latch onto him once more, quietly seeding the next invasion. The battle runs concurrently with the Attack on the Wyoming Military Base.
