Atlanteans

Native to Earth's oceans, the Atlanteans make their home in the submerged metropolis of Atlantis. They count as one of the planet's hidden peoples, sharing the world with humanity while remaining apart beneath the waves.

In looks they take a humanoid fish form. Their hides run mostly blue, and thin fins jut from the length of each arm and along the back. The design openly nods to the similarly named undersea race from DC Comics.

Biology sets the Atlanteans apart from surface dwellers. Their frames are tuned for the ocean's deepest reaches, holding up under pressure and cold that would kill a land creature at once. They breathe and circulate blood equally well in water or open air, letting them stay indefinitely in either.

Dense bone and muscle grant them toughness well beyond human limits, while sharpened senses guide them through lightless depths. A number of them command hydrokinesis, shaping the surrounding water into jets, shields, or hurled blasts. Politically they stand with Invincible and against the Viltrum Empire and Omni-Man.

Leadership has rested with Aquarus, the Atlantean king, who has since died, and with Aquaria, who carries the royal line forward. Beyond the throne, countless unnamed citizens fill out the population of Atlantis.
