ReAnimen

Born from the twisted ambitions of criminal scientist D.A. Sinclair, the ReAnimen are living people rebuilt into machine-laced, corpse-like soldiers. Sinclair, once a celebrated student and later a professor at Upstate University, convinced himself that human emotion and free thought were the only barriers to a flawless society. His answer was a fighter housed in a human frame but scrubbed of any consciousness, a project he chased in secret using victims who never agreed to take part.

Mechanically, each unit is a reanimated body reinforced with artificial muscle, a hardened skeleton, and support systems that push its strength, toughness, and stamina far past ordinary limits. They shrug off punishment that would kill a person, ignore pain and fatigue, and hit hard enough to wound even Invincible. Acting in packs, they can briefly pin down a top-tier Viltrumite like Omni-Man. Units later assembled from the bodies of dead Invincible variants inherit that Viltrumite biology, turning them into something described as nearly godlike.

The first successful conversion was Doug Cheston, a drunk college student snatched off campus at night and forced through brutal surgery, his vocal cords cut out to silence his protests. Sinclair loosed him on a crowd, and the rampage drew Invincible into a fight the cyborg nearly won. Tearing off Doug's helmet broke Sinclair's mental grip, and the horrified young man killed himself on the spot. Sinclair struck again by abducting William with help from three accomplices, one of them William's boyfriend Rick, but the plot unraveled when the captives broke free and the Global Defense Agency hauled them in to undo the damage.

Once Sinclair is jailed and pressed into service, the agency puts him to work mass-producing the creatures as a counter to the coming Viltrumite threat, switching to willingly donated corpses for the newer models. An early trio holds its ground against Omni-Man before he shreds them, and after he leaves Earth, Cecil Stedman orders thousands more. The soldiers aid the Guardians against Doc Seismic, yet the alliance sours when Invincible learns they answer to the GDA. Cecil turns them on the hero to force his loyalty, planting a sonic device in his skull, until the Guardians help smash the swarm and cut the signal.

The ReAnimen prove their worth during the Invincible War, wiping out several evil doppelgangers, gunning down Flaxancible with sonic emitters, mobbing Omnivincible and Hoodvincible, and snapping Bulletproofible's neck. As Conquest arrives, the agency scrambles to rebuild slain variant bodies into fresh units, though their Viltrumite-grade tissue resists the process, which Sinclair likens to cutting through stone.

D.A. Sinclair stands as the sole creator and founder of the line. Among the named conversions are Doug Cheston, the first of his kind, and Rick Sheridan, who was eventually restored. The war-era batch drew on fallen alternate Marks including Flaxancible, Bulletproofible, Lightblueincible, Mustachible, Hairvincible, Capvincible, and Sportvincible, alongside anonymous soldiers and abducted university students. The concept borrows from Marvel's Prime Sentinels, with clear nods to RoboCop and the film Universal Soldier, and Mike Willette voices them in the game Invincible VS.
