Rognarrs

Character

The Rognarrs are hulking, dinosaur-like brutes shaped by crushing gravity into some of the strongest creatures alive. Mindless and savage, they rank among the rare threats able to maim even Viltrumites, which is exactly why the Coalition of Planets recruits them for war.

Overview

Reptilian, hulking, and utterly wild, the Rognarrs count among the most physically overpowering species anywhere in the cosmos. They stand as semi-humanoid beasts with a distinctly dinosaurian cast, jaws crowded with sharp teeth and oversized incisors, bodies washed in orange and red beneath darker brown streaks that run from the shoulders across the limbs and tail. Three clawed fingers tip each hand, long tongues loll from their mouths, and their blank yellow eyes betray no thought at all. Operating on pure animal instinct, they trade only in roars and, the moment they stir from a frozen sleep, lunge straight into a fight.

Role

Their raw power traces back to a homeworld of punishing gravity, which forged unusually dense muscle and bone capable of delivering deadly force. Quick reflexes offset their bulk, and their hides absorb heavy blows with barely a mark, so even Viltrumite strikes tend to shove them aside rather than wound them. They have battered Nolan and the enhanced Unopan Allen, and at full power they overwhelmed high-ranking foes like Conquest, wrenching off his arm and blinding one eye, though the Scourge Virus had already sapped him. They can also endure the vacuum of space without air, much like Viltrumites themselves. Because of all this, the Coalition of Planets gathers several of the creatures and deploys them during the Viltrumite War, where they help tip the conflict against the Empire.

Notable Members

The Rognarrs have no named individuals, functioning purely as a savage collective drawn from the Savage Planet. Their one true vulnerability is environmental: the Viltrumite device called the Solar Disc can freeze their world and shut the whole species down, until a joint mission by Nolan, Allen, and Captain Pikell destroys it. They are not undefeatable either, since sufficiently fast Viltrumites can kill them. The design draws on Marvel's Lizard Men of Tok, with echoes of the Vaxasaurians from Ben 10 and the dread reputation of the Xenomorphs from Alien.
