United States Armed Forces

The United States Armed Forces are the federal military belonging to the United States of America, built to confront a broad sweep of dangers. Their remit stretches from terrorism carried out by supervillains to attacks by giant monsters and incursions from beyond Earth. Founded during the opening of the American Revolutionary War in the late eighteenth century, the institution long predates the arrival of the Viltrumite Nolan and has stood for well over two centuries.

In the present day, the military keeps a base at Anderson, Wyoming, which comes under attack first by the Lizard League and afterward by the Mauler Twins. Their most costly outing comes during the Invincible War, when the forces try to push back the evil Invincible army only to see their efforts amount to nothing against such overwhelming power. The National Guard runs transports carrying survivors caught in the fighting to safe zones, and several tanks are found wrecked during the cleanup after the third day.

The military also surfaces across alternate realities. In one universe a wrecked tank appears, likely the handiwork of Invincible and Omni-Man, while in another the armed forces manage to help kill Omni-Man yet cannot do the same to Invincible, forced to wait until he is asleep. Their arsenal runs to rifles, pistols, machine guns, and sniper rifles, backed by tanks.

Several figures served in its ranks before moving on, including Cecil Stedman, Brit, and Donald Ferguson. Others tied to the force are Jerry and an unnamed sergeant, both since killed, alongside Tania and Nate. The Global Defense Agency and the Guardians of the Globe count as allies, while the Lizard League and the Mauler Twins rank among its enemies.
