Viltrumite

Viltrumites are an advanced alien people of extraordinary physical power, born of their now-destroyed homeworld, Viltrum. As the dominant species behind the Viltrum Empire, they pursue a doctrine of ceaseless expansion aimed at subjugating every other civilization. Throughout the known universe they are dreaded as a merciless military society whose entire outlook rests on the conviction that might determines who deserves to rule.

Emperor Argall forged their beliefs into formal imperial dogma, binding strategic thought to martial dominance and shaping a civilization where conquest, governance, and cultural enforcement functioned as one machine. His central principle, that only the strong may steer the Empire's future, was carried forward and hardened still further once Grand Regent Thragg took command.

Biologically the species sits at the apex of life. Their muscle and bone form a single dense, resilient framework that yields overwhelming strength, deep durability, and blistering speed as linked expressions of one optimized body. Reinforced organs let them endure crushing pressure, searing heat, and the vacuum of space unaided, and they can journey between stars without suits or outside oxygen. Only the destruction of the brain or heart, or overwhelming total trauma, reliably kills them, and they heal from grievous wounds, even regenerating damaged organs. They age with extreme slowness, holding peak condition for thousands of years and growing steadily stronger the longer they survive, so elders generally outmatch the young.

Their culture rests on a brutal form of Darwinism, rigid discipline, and belief in their own superiority. Weakness is treated as a threat and purged, mates are regarded as breeding partners rather than loves, and offspring are drilled from birth into self-reliant warriors who battle their own parents upon reaching adulthood. Near extinction from the Scourge Virus pushed them to seek genetically compatible species for reproduction, which made humans, and by extension Earth, uniquely valuable for producing strong hybrids. Executions of their own kind are rare and ceremonial, requiring the condemned to be fully healed so they may die with honor, and their dead are displayed rather than mourned.

For all their dominance, they carry exploitable flaws. High-frequency sound scrambles their balance and can inflict lethal neurological harm, beings of equal or greater strength can overwhelm them, and worlds of intense gravity cripple their flight. The Scourge Virus suppresses their regeneration and strength, while Space Racer's Infinity Ray bypasses their durability entirely for instant death. Substances such as Sinlak beetle shells weaken them, and prolonged exposure to love and empathy can fracture their emotional conditioning altogether.

Thragg is regarded as the strongest Viltrumite ever to live, bred and trained from birth for that purpose, while Anissa is named the strongest female of the species and prized for her exceptional speed. Nolan and Conquest have shown comparable might near the peak, and figures such as Kregg, Lucan, Thula, Vidor, Kradd, and Elix fill the upper tier of standard warriors below the elites.

The species has also produced rare defectors and hybrids who broke its mold.
