Viltrumite Cruiser

The Viltrumite Cruiser, also called the Viltrumite Warship, is a highly advanced starship the Viltrumites use to cross the far reaches of space. Its hull stretches into a long, straight form that recalls one of Earth's subway trains, and it doubles as both a transport and a mobile outpost or living quarters for its crew.

The bridge centers on a command throne for the captain, ringed by supporting personnel. Armed with laser weaponry and signal-detection arrays, a cruiser can defend itself and back planetary invasions, responding quickly to fresh threats. Built for long hauls and swift troop drops, it travels faster than light and stays hidden from primitive sensors such as those of Earth.

Originating in the Argall era, the cruisers first handled routine military and transport tasks before becoming vital to seizing and holding distant worlds as the Empire expanded. After the Scourge Virus gutted the Viltrumite population, subjugated species were pressed into crewing them so the conquests could go on.

The ships carried captured foes and commanders alike through the war years, ferrying a beaten Nolan and Thula away from Thraxa and bearing a captured Allen toward the prison. After escaping his execution, Allen and Nolan hijacked a pair of executioners' cruiser and fled to Talescria. When open war broke out, Tech Jacket, Space Racer, and Coalition warships destroyed many cruisers, and Thragg's own vessel was torn apart above Talescria by Invincible and Oliver, its wreckage cast into space.

Once numbering in the thousands, the fleet was reduced to a single ship when Viltrum was destroyed. That last cruiser became the surviving Viltrumites' base and carried them to Earth, where it lay hidden on the dark side of the moon through the early Great Resurgence while Thragg stayed aboard to oversee the Empire's revival, unnoticed by the Coalition's newly placed early-warning system.

The cruisers answer to the Viltrum Empire, with individual ships commanded by figures such as General Kregg, who used his own distinctly designed vessel, and Grand Regent Thragg, who ran the war and later the resurgence from his. Anissa, Lucan, Conquest, and the two Viltrumite Executioners all traveled aboard them, while Allen the Alien and Tech Jacket each turned captured cruisers against the Empire.
