The Spear of Lucretius, also written Lance of Lucretius, is the spear artifact of the Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA novels. Wielded by Shinji Ikari's Super Evangelion, it can pull an Eva back out of an energy state, inverting the role its counterparts play in other continuities.
ANIMA's contribution to the Evangelion spear lineage appears across the Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA novel series, including its fifth volume. Its look leans on certain art-book renditions of the original Spear of Longinus rather than the anime's familiar bident shape.
Where other continuities point their spears at the heroes, this one serves them. The weapon can extract an Evangelion from an energy state and can bisect beings composed of energy, making it a tool of rescue as much as offense.
Shinji Ikari employs the spear through the Super Evangelion, the continuity's upgraded Unit-01. The artifact's name honors Titus Lucretius Carus, the Roman poet and philosopher whose sole known work, the Epicurean poem De rerum natura, is commonly translated as On the Nature of Things.

Unlike other spears in the Evangelion mythos that are used against the pilots, the Spear of Lucretius works in their favor. It can pull an Evangelion back out of an energy state and can bisect beings made of energy, making it a tool for rescue as well as combat.

The Spear of Lucretius is named after Titus Lucretius Carus, the Roman poet and philosopher whose only surviving work is the Epicurean poem De rerum natura, usually translated as On the Nature of Things.
The Spear of Lucretius is related to the Spear of Longinus and the Spear of Cassius, other spear artifacts in the Evangelion franchise, though it reverses their typical role by helping Evangelion units rather than attacking them.
