Demons

Demons reign as the foremost intelligent race born of Hell. No single natural form defines them; instead, each demon carries its own look. Damien Darkblood, for one, cuts a towering, horned, red-skinned and muscled figure, whereas Satan appears as a small, aged red demon trailing a short tail.

The species has likely endured since Hell itself began. Satan once ruled them all before losing his throne to unknown forces and becoming the Demon Lord, ever scheming to take his seat back. Their society runs on survival of the fittest, arranged into hierarchies under demon lords, and its members differ sharply in morality, from the repentant Darkblood who chases justice to avoid returning below, to the flesh-eating, conquest-hungry Satan. Cecil Stedman notes that demons read the world in stark black and white.

Their biology and magic gear them for endurance. Demons wield heightened strength, agility, and toughness, resist aging and ordinary harm through a kind of immortality, and need no food, water, or rest. Attuned to arcane power, they can teleport and touch supernatural forces, yet they remain vulnerable to exorcism, which the right artifacts and incantations can use to cast them back to their origin. Darkblood himself once slipped free of Hell to work as a detective, later probing the murder of the Guardians of the Globe until Cecil banished him home, and in 2024 he summoned Satan with word of a being strong enough to help reclaim the infernal throne.

Prominent demons include Damien Darkblood, the escaped detective; Satan, the fallen ruler hungry to reign again; and Domina, alongside many others. The race counts Invincible among its allies and stands opposed to humans, Volcanikka, the Magmanites, Cerberus, and the Vile.
