Summary
Arriving in Venice, Joseph Joestar grumbles that Wamuu saw through his one-month training bluff. To sharpen his control of the Ripple, Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli brings him to meet their instructor, Lisa Lisa, who immediately fits Joseph with a breathing-restricting mask he must wear throughout his lessons. Elsewhere, Robert E. O. Speedwagon frets over how to tell Erina about the deadly rings the Pillar Men planted inside Joseph. Lisa Lisa's first challenge sends the two young men up the Hell Climb Pillar, a twenty-four-meter shaft slick with oil that can only be scaled through the Ripple, on pain of starvation.

A crack that looks like a resting spot proves to be a trap, blasting oil under pressure from the pillar's twenty-meter mark. Caesar forces his way through the barrier by gripping and repelling at once, reaching the summit, while Joseph finds the barrier's weakest point and leaps clear of it. Out of breath on the final stretch, Joseph is hauled up by Caesar, and a satisfied Lisa Lisa summons her attendants Loggins and Messina to drill the pair further in the weeks ahead.
