Deep inside the Monster Association base, Child Emperor frees the hostage Waganma and tears through Phoenix Man and Sludge Jellyfish with an arsenal of gadgets, only to run headlong into the machine god G5 as the chapter closes.
Child Emperor advances through a corridor while keeping tabs on the other heroes, noticing that Flashy Flash's transmitter appears to have gone dark. A pig-shaped monster tries to jump him and is instantly wiped out by one of his robots, Mini Octotank No. 8. Further along he finds a wrecked Metal Knight unit that someone has skillfully begun taking apart, raising the worrying possibility that the enemy has robotics specialists able to turn hero technology against them. Extracting data from the machine, he uncovers a detailed map to the hostage's location and fumes that Metal Knight kept that information hidden.
As he calms down with a sweet, Octotank is destroyed by Phoenix Man, who arrives asking whether the boy has come to play. After a bout of self-important monologuing, the monster lunges and smashes into an invisible barrier, a lightweight folding shield Child Emperor had wrapped around his candy. He then dispatches Phoenix Man with a spread of tools pulled from his backpack. Reaching Waganma, he floods the monsters' cell with gas while protecting the boy under a frog-styled mask. Sludge Jellyfish slips in and tries to crush him, but an umbrella-generated shield blocks it before he douses the creature in fuel and burns it alive. Pressing on, he scouts ahead with a toy tank that is promptly wrecked as the machine god G5 steps into view. His high-voltage cage and jamming signal barely slow the machine, which keeps advancing on the pair.
