Phantom Ace

Tall and lean, Ace wears his white hair short above gray eyes. His usual attire is a white suit paired with a white mask styled after the one Sailor V wears.

Beneath the polished celebrity charm lies a man consumed by a love that was never returned. His devotion to the Princess of Venus spans lifetimes, and by the end he meets his fate with a grim, almost prophetic resignation.

Ace steps into the spotlight after DeVleene's plan to fatten up the city's girls, presenting himself as the man who helps them slim down and hosting his own television program. He also builds a reputation for 'Love Readings' performed with playing cards, favoring the four aces. The finale of the series exposes him as Danburite, the Dark Agency's leader, who answers to the Four Kings of Heaven and reports directly to Kunzite.

In an earlier age he had been Adonis, a common soldier stationed on Venus whose brow bore the planet's mark, later ordered to serve under Endymion as Queen Metalia rose. There he first beheld Princess Venus and fell for her, though she never returned the feeling. Minako uncovers his true nature during the filming of a joint Japanese-Chinese picture, The Chinese Princess Story.

Slain by Sailor V, he leaves her a bleak prophecy that duty will forever eclipse her chances at love, yet in doing so he frees her to pursue her mission unburdened. Through him Minako first learns that the Dark Kingdom exists and takes up her place among the Sailor Guardians, and his fall marks the end of the Dark Agency.
