The eighth episode of Tokyo Ghoul:re sets the Rose investigation in motion, as a starving Tsukiyama loses control of his kagune, the CCG targets his family's ghoul gang, and Sasaki chases the truth behind his old mask.
Shuu Tsukiyama is perpetually ravenous and can no longer keep his kagune in check. Meanwhile, Tatara turns down Ayato Kirishima's plea to break Hinami Fueguchi out of Cochlea. The investigators Nimura Furuta and Shiki Kijima then approach Haise Sasaki to tell him he will be joining the coming Rose investigation.
At CCG headquarters, Koori Ui briefs Sasaki and the Quinx Squad on the Rose ghoul gang, in truth the Tsukiyama crime family, whose members ambush Furuta and Kijima before the investigator Hairu Ihei rescues them. The gang member Yuuma is captured and tortured by Kijima inside Cochlea. Sasaki calls on Uta hoping to learn about the mask and Sen Takatsuki's book, but Uta lies about both and is instead asked to craft a new mask. When Chie Hori delivers photographs of Sasaki to Kanae von Rosewald, Tsukiyama realizes the investigator is the very Kaneki he has been chasing.
