Summary

Learning that Ken Kaneki survived, Shuu Tsukiyama bolts into the street without his wheelchair, staggers toward Haise Sasaki, and collapses. Kanae von Rosewald hauls him home, exasperated that Tsukiyama would expose himself before a ghoul investigator. Later, Sasaki and the Quinx visit Uta's mask studio for measurements ahead of Operation Mask, though Sasaki is denied approval to run it.

Key Events

At the Tsukiyama estate, a servant shows Mirumo Tsukiyama a video Shiki Kijima has posted to the CCG site, in which Kijima displays the tortured Mairo and demands that anyone hoping to save the captive pry the location out of him. Tsukiyama and Kanae begin plotting a rescue built around Sasaki, and Tsukiyama meets him in a park, only for Mutsuki and Saiko to interrupt before he can draw close. To buy Tsukiyama some time, Kanae pays a group of Aogiri Tree members, Shousei Idera, Hooguro, Grave Robber, and Torso, to eliminate the Quinx. The ambush splits the squad through a park house, where Mutsuki overpowers a passive Torso until Grave Robber hurls Torso from the building, and Urie and Shirazu beat Kanae before doubling back to rescue Mutsuki. Sasaki, for his part, single-handedly downs the whole line of White Suits.

Notes

The episode draws on the thirty-eighth through forty-first chapters of Tokyo Ghoul:re, and its subtitle puns on the word replay. Saiko, strangled by Shikorae, is saved by a robed giant and recovered by the squad as Eto watches from a distance. In the anime Yuuma's tongue is lightly censored during Kijima's recording.
