This Paramecia fruit grants the ability to produce and control straw, which carries a striking damage-redirecting property. The name draws on wara, Japanese for straw. It belongs to Basil Hawkins, whose powers first appeared during the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, though the fruit went unnamed until the Wano Country Arc. The straw doll effect echoes the real Japanese wara ningyo, an effigy tied to curse rituals.

At its simplest the straw serves to hold objects or to slash as a weapon, and in bulk it can armor the user into a fighting form or spawn a towering straw monster. The signature application, though, is the creation of small straw dolls stored inside the body, each linked to a chosen person like a voodoo charm. Any injury the user suffers transfers instead to a doll and onto whomever it represents, letting Hawkins survive repeated lethal wounds. He can deliberately tie dolls to an enemy's allies, leaving foes unable to harm him without striking down their own comrades.

The technique has firm limits. Hawkins can hold at most ten dolls, leaving him exposed once they run out, and a doll becomes useless if the linked person is hurt by other means. If the damage cannot be applied to the connected target, it simply rebounds onto Hawkins, as when Killer severed his arm while it was tied to the already-armless Eustass Kid. Dolls can also be physically pulled from his body to break the link. The straw itself is not very durable, easily cut by Zoro, and unlike a Logia the user cannot turn intangible to let attacks pass through.

Hawkins is the only wielder, often blending the power with his cartomancy by floating tarot cards on straw threads. He keeps dolls inside himself as general insurance through the Straw Man technique, redirecting harm via Life Minus and using the lives of others as bargaining chips. For offense he becomes a clawed scarecrow with Goma no So or summons a remotely controlled giant through Straw Man's Card, the monster's behavior dictated by the tarot cards he draws, such as The Fool Reversed or Death Upright. He may also extend his sword into a straw whip for greater reach and power.
