Baby Face

Baby Face belongs to Melone, a killer who serves in the hit squad of Vento Aureo, the fifth part of the series. Classed as an automatic Stand, it breaks sharply from the usual mold by behaving less like a fighter and more like a machine, taking the shape of a laptop fitted with a trackball and a slot where Melone feeds in a small vial of sampled DNA. A broad face juts out beneath the casing, limbs sprout from it at times, and ordinary people can see the device plainly.

The computer's real purpose is to spawn a second, thinking Stand that does the actual killing. Melone calls this offspring Baby Face as well in the manga, though the anime renames it Junior. The child starts with the build of a small boy topped by a ridge of spikes, its two halves joined at the waist by a bundle of cables, resembling a malevolent take on Echoes in its third form until later growth spurts push it toward an adult frame.

Producing the offspring is deliberate and slow. Melone studies a woman through a mock science that reads her traits, her age and health hinting at the child's physical strength, her blood type and star sign predicting how well the result will mesh with his chosen target, since a poor match yields a savage fighter, alongside stranger inputs whose bearing stays unclear. Satisfied with the reading, he turns the Stand on her and seeds his creation inside her by a method that carries no likeness to human reproduction; blood rather than any bodily fluid drives it, the woman is left unharmed, and it works more like a parasite than a birth. Within roughly three minutes a fully formed Junior emerges near the back of her head. Should Melone hold a blood sample from an intended victim, slotting it beside the keyboard lets the offspring hunt that person down across any distance.

Beyond breeding, the laptop stores gathered data and keeps a live channel to its offspring through a camera and microphone, so Melone can coach it and watch it develop from afar. The Junior itself is a long-range, power-type killer that acts freely on his behalf, strong from the start yet able to grow sharper by absorbing everything it witnesses and even picking up unrelated skills such as riding a motorcycle. Its signature weapon is a square vacuum that dices matter into cubes while leaving living things alive; it can split a whole body apart, pluck out a single cube, or reassemble the pieces into any shape, once turning Trish's severed form into a table and elsewhere disguising itself as furniture, stone, or shadow. Weaponized, it removes vital cubes like a throat, and it can feed on the cubes to hasten its own aging.

Melone is the only user, and he unleashes the Junior on Bruno Bucciarati's crew after breeding it from a hotheaded host, whose temper passes into the child as raw aggression. The offspring dices Trish Una and Bucciarati into harmless blocks, then carves out Giorno Giovanna's throat and eye in its bid to finish him. Because the Junior stands apart from its maker, harm done to it never rebounds on Melone, yet that same independence lets it defy orders when pressed. Its freedom proves its undoing against Giorno: exploiting the creature's vulnerability to ordinary hazards that most Stands ignore, Gold Experience turns an arm into a piranha and later burns the Junior, ending Baby Face for good.
