Cheap Trick

Cheap Trick surfaces in Diamond is Unbreakable, first as the Stand of the architect Masazo Kinoto and later, against his will, as Rohan Kishibe's burden. It rides its host's back at all times, resembling a mechanical frog with drowsy half-shut eyes, oversized teeth, a brace fixed to its chin, and suction-tipped fingers that grip skin. The design draws on the Onbu-Obake, a piggyback yokai. Bystanders can see it clinging there, and that visibility is the whole danger. It counts as both an automatic and a shared Stand.

The Stand exists to engineer its own host's death, then move on to the next victim. It is pathetically feeble on its own, unable even to peel off an adhesive bandage, but it is nearly impossible to harm and needs only one thing to kill: someone else's eyes on the host's back. When that happens, Cheap Trick tears free, killing the host and draining them into a shriveled, doll-sized husk, then fastens onto whoever looked. It becomes that person's Stand even if they already have one, visible to the host alone. The host cannot strike it without wounding themselves, and because it clings by ability rather than muscle, ripping it away simply flays the skin and kills. The only reliable escape is to have the vengeful spirits of Ghost Girl's Alley pull it off.

Its other gift is speech that anyone can hear and understand, human or animal, and it treats this chatter as its true weapon. It badgers and taunts its host to grind them down mentally, and since onlookers assume the voice belongs to the host, it can hurl insults that make people attack, or convince a neighborhood's stray animals that the host mistreats them and send the whole pack after him. It is at its deadliest while the host sleeps and can operate unnoticed.

Masazo Kinoto is the original bearer, struck in the back by an Arrow that Yoshihiro Kira wielded, then sent to destroy Rohan and the photographs closing in on Kira's identity. Kinoto hides his back on instinct until he dies, and Cheap Trick jumps to Rohan. Rohan finally lures it into Reimi's alley, exposes his back to Koichi where the Stand ends up facing the wrong way, and lets the alley's ghostly hands drag it off before commanding it toward Hell with Heaven's Door.
