Dune

Dune is the Bound power of Goyathlay Soundman, a figure from the 37th universe who turns up in the JORGE JOESTAR light novel. By his own account it may not even qualify as a true Stand, because it crumbles back into plain sand the instant it strays too far from him. Its appearance mirrors the earlier In a Silent Way, only rebuilt out of sand, and it still wears that predecessor's feathered war bonnet while bearing Tezcatlipoca's mosaic mask. Kars eventually copies the ability, engineering a stronger form he dubs Dune Ultimate.

The power pulls sand from any surroundings and sculpts it into whatever shape is called for, leaving its user shielded against most blows. Dune's own substance is sand carried from Soundman's homeland; it can bend into many forms but reverts to loose sand the moment he drifts too far away from it.

Soundman can send Dune off to gather still more sand, and those grains double as a listening device, allowing him to catch sounds across long distances. Packed around him as armor, the sand fends off incoming attacks, though sheathing his own face in it robs him of sight. Once Kars takes up the power, he drives it past the original, raising bigger sand whirlpools and taller pillars than Soundman ever managed.

Goyathlay Soundman of the 37th universe is the original owner of the ability. Kars becomes its second wielder after replicating it and refining it into his own upgraded form, Dune Ultimate.
