Highway Star

Highway Star serves Yuya Fungami and appears throughout Diamond is Unbreakable. Its figure is a mostly bare humanoid wrapped in a dark checkerboard hide, its chin carrying a decorative false beard styled after the beards of the pharaohs. During a hunt the Stand parts into slim stacked sheets, so that its approach resembles a running trail of footprints closing on the prey.

Because it runs on its own logic, Highway Star qualifies as an automatic and sentient Stand. It moves, reasons, and schemes independently, even holding conversations with Yuya's opponents. Rather than steering it through his thoughts, Yuya issues spoken commands to it during the pursuit of Terunosuke. The anime gives it a hushed, faintly menacing take on Yuya's own voice, and colored art renders it in purple and black.

As a long-reaching Stand, Highway Star trades melee strength for wide operating range and solid speed, letting Yuya guide it accurately while he hides well away from any danger. It sustains a constant 60 km/h, roughly 37 mp/h, and can maintain that pace indefinitely, tracking a target across all of Morioh while its user rests in a hospital bed. It can also throw a quick flurry of punches.

Its first shown trick is a lure room: the Stand fills an enclosed space with an illusion tailored to whoever walks in, then fixes on that person's scent. Once tagged, the victim is hunted anywhere at that fixed speed. A superhuman nose, which Yuya shares, lets it home in automatically and even summon itself near a distant mark. When flying, it can slice into many independent footprint-shaped segments before reassembling piece by piece, which makes it hard to strike, able to squeeze through gaps, and capable of hitting from every angle at once, though in this split state it follows the scent mindlessly and can be briefly fooled. Its central power drains life energy, or nutrients, wherever any part of it touches the target, feeding that energy back to heal Yuya and leaving the victim skeletal and unable to move. Stand users yield richer energy, so Yuya hunts them by preference.

Yuya Fungami is the sole wielder, directing the Stand by voice while keeping his distance. Its assault on Rohan Kishibe leaves Rohan drained and helpless, and its relentless chase forces Josuke Higashikata to run and hunt down the user rather than fight the Stand outright.
