Manic Depression

Featured only in Purple Haze Feedback, this close-range Stand belongs to Massimo Volpe. It looks like a walking cadaver standing under a meter tall, with bandages winding over its arms and chest. A bloated belly and an oversized, skull-shaped head cap off an otherwise thin, bony frame. It can push thorns out of its body and trails an umbilical-like cord from its stomach.

The Stand's power lies in tampering with the chemistry of living bodies. By stabbing a victim with its thorns, it ramps up their biological processes to lethal extremes: it can drive a heart to race until it bursts, throw the stomach into violent digestion, or briefly boost someone's physical capabilities before their body collapses from the strain.

It carries a second, stranger trick as well. Manic Depression can transmute ordinary salt into a potent opiate that can be injected for a drug-like high. The catch is that the substance holds together for only two weeks before it decays back into plain salt.

Massimo Volpe is the sole wielder. Fittingly, his Stand works as a dark mirror of his brother Tonio's Pearl Jam: where Tonio's power hunts down ailments and mends the body, Massimo's warps its inner chemistry toward harm and unpredictable ruin.
