Overview

Notorious B.I.G is the automatic Stand of Carne, a Passione hitman in Part 5. While its user lived it looked humanoid, wearing a striped half-mask that peaked above the head and reached over one eye, its teeth bared in a snarl. Once Carne dies, the Stand reawakens and rebuilds itself from raw flesh, first taking a crude shape with stubby limbs and a tail before swelling, after enough feeding, into a massive creature with stretching tentacle arms and a mouth of blunt human-like teeth large enough to fill an aircraft cabin. It behaves with an animal hunger, driven only to consume, though it briefly spoke to Giorno as it grew on his arm.

Mechanics

What sets this Stand apart is that it does not depend on a living master, instead switching on at the moment Carne dies and drawing power from his grudge, which erases the usual weakness of an automatic Stand. With no body of its own at first, it constructs one by absorbing matter and energy from anything nearby, including Stand energy and the output of a machine such as an engine. Because that reassembled body is physical, it can be battered or impaled, yet any surviving fragment stays active and regrows the moment it reaches something to feed on, making true destruction nearly hopeless.

Its capacity to swallow Stand energy leaves it immune to Stand attacks and pushes it to seek Stands out as prey. During its early growth it can also seize partial control of the host it infects, once forcing Giorno to hide Carne's fingers and to scrawl out his own thoughts on a wall. Though blind, it senses motion and automatically lunges at the fastest moving object in reach, accelerating until it latches on, at one point catching a plane in flight. This makes its behavior predictable, so it can be lured away with a spinning clock hand or a reclining seat, and the ceaseless churn of ocean waves eventually traps it at sea.

Notable Users

Carne is the original and only true user, sent to kill the traitors of Team Bucciarati and struck down almost at once by Mista. After his death the Stand latched onto Giorno aboard the plane, wounded Mista and Narancia, and was finally impaled by Trish's newly awakened Spice Girl. A surviving piece grew huge inside the engine before the group cast it into the Tyrrhenian Sea, where it still lingers, chasing fast ships and earning the nickname the Tyrrhenian's stomach.
