Personality

Little of his true character was ever revealed, since he never speaks or reacts on the page and his one appearance leaves him knocked out by a thrown rock. What can be gathered is that he is cunning, having devised a concealment good enough to keep the crusaders from spotting him for a long stretch. He is also methodical and patient, stocking his hideout with air conditioning and water and content to simply wait for the desert heat to kill his marks.

History

Fats' Stand, Sun, is a blazing orb resembling the actual sun that superheats the surrounding area, mimics broad daylight, and fires beams of energy. Its user is not shielded from the effect, so he has to keep within a set distance of whoever he is cooking. Trailing the Joestar Group into the desert in an air-conditioned car, he stayed invisible by mounting a mirror rig that bounced the surrounding sand back at any onlooker.

As the heat wore the travelers down, they began to suspect the sun overhead was itself a Stand, and Kakyoin's attack on it drew a retaliatory strike that confirmed their hunch. The group finally cracked the trick after noticing two identical rocks whose shadows fell in opposite directions, proving one was a reflection. Jotaro used Star Platinum's precision to pinpoint Fats and dropped him in an instant with a hurled rock to the face. Dismissing both the Stand and its user as childish, the crusaders never learned whether he lived, though the comical bruise suggests he was merely knocked cold.

Fats went nameless for years after Part 3 first ran, gaining his identity only through the PlayStation release of Heritage for the Future and later official guides. Araki has said he built the character to look like a fearsome, weeks-long threat purely to fool readers, then toppled him almost the moment the group saw through his gimmick.
