Danny

Danny looks like a big, lean harlequin Great Dane whose ears are cropped. His coat is white with black spots, though the exact markings shift depending on the medium.

Playful and upbeat around Jonathan, Danny had once been a nervous, easily frightened animal before the day he rescued the boy. George Joestar praises him as a deeply gentle dog, one who pulled a drowning Jonathan to safety even though the child had tormented him for a time, a sign of how much the hound valued life.

When Jonathan was only five, George Joestar took in Danny as a small pup. Wary of strange faces and places, the frightened dog even bit Jonathan on their first meeting, and for a while the boy tormented him back by hurling stones. Everything changed the day Jonathan nearly drowned in a river and Danny hauled him to shore, sealing a deep friendship.

Once Dio Brando enters the household, he drives his knee into Danny's jaw, lying that the dog had lunged at him. Later, stung by losing a fight to Jonathan, Dio takes revenge by shutting the animal in the incinerator to burn alive. Jonathan returns to news of Danny's torturous death, buries him behind the Joestar Mansion, and weeps sleeplessly for the loss of his last true friend, certain Dio was behind it.
