Dire

Broad and heavily muscled, Dire is a seasoned man with hard, angular features and pale hair worn in a tall, oversized flattop. He dresses in light leather armor layered over cotton garments.

A fierce but principled fighter, Dire lives by the Ripple and its code of honor. He first tests Jonathan Joestar with a sudden strike, then insists on facing Dio alone to avenge his friend Zeppeli, and holds firm to his very last breath. His command of Hamon is formidable: he governs his own speed so precisely that foes see only a blur, deliberately moving slower to bait them into dropping their guard, and he can channel the Ripple into objects, even continuing to wield it after losing his head. His signature is the Thunder Cross Split Attack, a refined form of the Thunder Split Attack that seals its own weak point and stands as a near-flawless technique.

Dire trained alongside Straizo under the Hamon master Tonpetty and grew close to Will Zeppeli. When Zeppeli's letter revealed where the Stone Mask lay, Dire set out with his master to help. Reaching the site, he ambushed Jonathan only to confirm the young man was truly Zeppeli's friend, then handed over the letter as proof of his own intentions.

Before the final showdown, Dire stepped forward to take on Dio himself in Zeppeli's name. Even his finest strike could not pierce Dio's freezing power, which turned his body to ice and smashed it apart. Reduced to a severed head, he spent his last spark of Ripple to drive a rose into Dio's eye before he too was frozen and destroyed.
