Gloria Costello is a minor figure in Stone Ocean and the elder sister of Ermes Costello. A restaurant owner cut down on the orders of the gangster Sports Maxx years before the main story, her murder is what drives Ermes to have herself locked away in prison to take revenge.
Gloria was an athletic young woman widely regarded as beautiful. She wore her light hair at a semi-long length, mostly swept back except for a pair of loose strands framing the front, and her naturally arched eyebrows ran noticeably fuller toward the inner edge than the outer.
Lively, strong-willed, and quietly serious underneath, Gloria acted less like a sibling to Ermes than a mother, forever pressing her to pull her weight around the restaurant. Her attachment to the family business ran so deep that when she stumbled onto a brutal killing she first resolved to say nothing and let it pass, fearing for the establishment; only when the danger turned toward her sister did she abandon that silence and summon the police.
At twenty Gloria inherited the modest restaurant her immigrant father had built in a poor district, and despite its worn state it kept a reliable stream of patrons. One day, after lecturing the seventeen-year-old Ermes for shirking her duties and driving her out of the house, Gloria overheard a struggle in the alley behind the building and watched Sports Maxx murder a bound man by driving a stake through his skull. She hid before he could spot her and intended to keep the crime to herself, but Sports Maxx caught sight of Ermes fleeing down the street and assumed the girl would talk.
To shield her sister, Gloria went to the authorities, whose mishandling of the case left her exposed, and Sports Maxx dispatched a lesser, unknown killer to silence her. With his only witness gone, the gangster escaped serious charges and drew a short sentence, and the Costello father soon died as well, stripping Ermes of both her family and the restaurant. Years afterward Ermes deliberately enters Green Dolphin Street Prison to reach Sports Maxx and settle the score.

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
