Guido Mista

Standing a touch taller than average and carrying a medium frame, Mista is a teenager set apart by unusually large black irises. He wears an oddly shaped cap patterned with a diagonal grid and fronted by a downward arrow, and he packs it with ammunition so his hands stay free. His outfit runs to a cropped cashmere turtleneck that echoes the hat's design, tiger-striped leather trousers doubling as a holster, a heavy belt, and boots, likely the costliest wardrobe on the team.

At the heart of his fighting is a short-barreled revolver, fitted with a hammer shroud and loaded with six hollow-point rounds in a swing-out cylinder, rendered purple across every adaptation. Trish Una has remarked that he carries a great deal of body hair, down to his fingers, and that his scent, off-putting at first, becomes strangely reassuring.

Away from the number that unnerves him, Mista is an easygoing teenager who chases life's simple pleasures, good food, wine, and pretty girls, and would rather not trouble himself with complicated matters, a plainness strangers sometimes mistake for stupidity. He ranks among the group's most sociable members, forever floating odd conversational tangents, yet also among its rudest and most casually violent, quick to torture or kill and blunt with his taunts, though a decent heart shows through whenever innocents are at risk.

His defining quirk is a severe dread of the number four: any mention or sight of it leaves him anxious and sweating, and his Sex Pistols are numbered one through seven with four pointedly skipped. In combat his manner flips to serious and proactive, favoring direct assaults aimed at an immediate kill, yet he backs his recklessness with genuine tactical sense and keeps his nerve even as wounds tear through him, most strikingly when he trades fire with Ghiaccio and lets his own blood be turned into a tool.

A childhood link between the number four and a neighbor's cat that clawed out an eye seeded Mista's phobia, and by his teens he was living alone in cheerful poverty, greeting girls, savoring wine and cheese, and brawling with anyone who insulted his favorite film star. At seventeen he stepped in to save a woman from a beating and discovered, amid a hail of gunfire that never touched him, his uncanny gift for making bullets miss; he calmly reloaded a dropped pistol and killed all three attackers, drawing a long prison term until Bruno Bucciarati, impressed by his spirit and aim, overturned the verdict and had him take Polpo's Arrow test, awakening Sex Pistols, a squad of small beings that ride and redirect the bullets from his revolver.

As part of Team Bucciarati, Mista helps recover Polpo's fortune, felling Sale with a clever ricochet, then joins the mission to guard Trish Una from the assassins of Squadra Esecuzioni. He survives Prosciutto's aging trap thanks to a bullet lodged in a chip of ice, and endures a punishing shootout with Ghiaccio at Giorno's side. When Bruno rebels against the boss, Mista follows, and through the pursuit to Rome he battles Tiziano and Squalo, Cioccolata's Green Day, and finally Diavolo himself, at one point stranded in Trish's body after Chariot Requiem swaps everyone's souls.

He witnesses Bruno's sacrifice and Giorno's awakening of Gold Experience Requiem, which ends Diavolo, and afterward comes to serve under Giorno's command. In the novel Purple Haze Feedback he sidesteps the label of Passione's number two, since two squared is four, insisting instead that he is number three, and orders Fugo to purge the gang's narcotics team on pain of death.
