Jodio Joestar

Jodio wears his light grey hair short with long bangs, a braid tied off with a small star running along the right of his face and a zigzag piece atop his head reminiscent of Leone Abbacchio's. His outfit centers on a dark blue hooded vest joined to matching pants by strips of fabric, layered over a grey shirt with the sleeves pushed up, and he rounds it out with fingerless gloves, boot-like footwear, and a hoop earring shaped like a J in his left ear.

Rows of studs trail down each pant leg, pink pads rest on his shoulders, and a winged heart marks his chest. Like every member of the Joestar family, he bears the star birthmark.

Jodio runs hot, seizing almost any excuse to throw a punch and often greeting a stranger with hostility before warming to them once he has measured their nerve. He is fearless to a fault, beating a pair of police officers half to death after they harassed his brother, and he shouts the phrase ORA as he swings, echoing JoJos before him. A streak of street cunning runs alongside the aggression, and he knows how to avoid leaving evidence, right down to police body cameras. A school psychotherapist warns that he likely has antisocial personality disorder, meeting eighteen of twenty markers, and he coolly replies that he will be careful.

He has little use for the law and smuggles to prop up his mother's safety and standing from the shadows, yet he is plainly out for himself, framing his story as the tale of how he got rich. Much of his thinking circles a concept he calls the Mechanism, an unseen economy of trust that operates above the rules, where doing favors earns trust and trust converts into power and privilege.

Jodio is the younger of Barbara Ann Joestar's two sons and a grandson of Joseph Joestar. His family left Atlantic City for Honolulu when he was eleven, and soon after he caught his older brother Dragona being assaulted and drove the attacker off with piercing raindrops. When the bullying continued, Jodio set fire to the bullies' school bus and sealed the door with his rain, relenting only when he spotted a pet parrot aboard. Grateful, Dragona named the power November Rain and kept it a secret, but their father was gouged for tenfold insurance, fired, and forced out of Honolulu, tipping the household into hardship as gangs spread through the neighborhood.

Aware of their plight, Meryl Mei Qi offered the brothers a place in her crew, and Jodio graduated from errand runner to schoolyard drug dealer working under Meryl, who doubles as his school principal. His Stand, November Rain, is an artificial humanoid that conjures unnaturally dense showers whose weight he can control, letting the droplets pierce flesh, pin a target, or punch through concrete.

In The JOJOLands, a traffic stop turns violent when a leering officer gropes Dragona; Jodio steps in, crushes the man with his rain, and burns away the cameras and squad car to erase any trace. Meryl then sets the crew on a bigger score, the theft of a Japanese tourist's twenty-four-carat blue diamond, pairing Jodio with Dragona, Paco Laburantes, and the upperclassman Usagi Alohaoe. The mark turns out to be the manga artist Rohan Kishibe, and the burglary spirals into a running clash over a mysterious lava rock that pulls every valuable object toward it, leaving the crew hunted through the jungle even after they escape with both the diamond and the stone.
