Ken Oyanagi

Ken is a short, slim boy with straight hair of medium length. He wears a headband, open sandals that reach the ankle, and shortalls fastened with both straps over a single shoulder, the whole outfit studded on every side with oversized safety pins. A large hole marks his left cheek, left behind after the Arrow pierced him.

Coloring differs by medium: the colored manga gives him ginger hair and brown eyes, while the anime switches these to white hair and gold eyes.

What Ken wants most is to grow into an adult who commands the same respect Rohan enjoys. He starts out knowing nothing about Stands but picks things up quickly as the contest wears on. Decisive by nature, he is ready to throw his own life away once beaten and thinks nothing of grabbing a baby as leverage for another round. He clings to a belief that fortune sits firmly on his side, even though luck rarely actually favors him. When Rohan reads his life with Heaven's Door, he finds nothing more than a bouncy, ordinary kid untroubled by family strife.

Ken tumbled from a telephone pole and came away with the hole in his cheek, an injury most likely caused by the Stand-making Arrow that Yoshihiro Kira had been using to create new Stand users throughout Morioh. A devoted fan of janken, he corners the famous artist Rohan Kishibe and demands a match. Rohan, thoroughly irritated, uses Heaven's Door to drive him off, but the boy keeps coming back, so Rohan finally agrees to play in the hope of being left in peace.

Ken's real goal is to strip away Rohan's so-called mind power, convinced that beating him at janken would make him the greater man. His Stand, Boy II Man, lets him claim an opponent's Stand through a five-round game, siphoning a third of its strength with every loss the victim suffers, though a full comeback win hands the whole Stand back. After many defeats Ken finally wins a round and begins to absorb Rohan's power and learn about Stands, but Rohan tricks him in the closing match by teaching him to bend luck rather than lean on it.

Crying foul, Ken snatches Shizuka Joestar as a hostage to force a rematch, and this time he loses squarely. Refusing to accept it, he flings himself in front of a truck; Rohan leaps along with him, and the driver, his view suddenly blocked by Yoshihiro Kira, barely misses them both. Seeing that fortune truly stands with Rohan, Ken concedes at last, and Rohan admits he has grown fond of the boy for his knack for decisive action.
