Appearance

Of ordinary height and build, Zucchero fixes his hair into an odd tail that juts backward before curling at the tip. His collarless long-sleeved top carries spikes along the shoulders, arms, and back, and his trousers stretch far enough to swallow his feet in place of boots. Coloring shifts by medium: a green suit over light gray hair in the tinted manga, lime-green hair in the anime, and, in the PlayStation 2 game, a suit that matches his hair.

Personality

Set beside his partner Sale, Zucchero comes across as vain and heedless. Handed a hypothetical fortune of six billion lire, he pictures holidays and women rather than climbing Passione's ranks. He first appears at the wheel, barely watching the road to Sale's exasperation, and the instant he hears of Polpo's treasure he leaps from the moving car, abandoning Sale in the passenger seat.

Despite the recklessness, the two commit to taking on Bucciarati's six-man crew by themselves, a choice that reflects either genuine faith in his Stand or plain rashness. He fights by stealth, once stacking one boat atop another to spring his attack and quietly thinning a group that would otherwise crush him, though he turns crude and menacing, hurling threats and curses once he has an enemy cornered.

History

Soft Machine, his Stand, punctures targets with a stubby blade and leaves them deflated. Chasing Polpo's inheritance, Zucchero struck the boat carrying Bucciarati's gang and flattened everyone aboard except Bucciarati and Leone Abbacchio. Bucciarati then downed him with a long-range surprise strike that peeled his head from his shoulders. The team strung the severed head from a fish hook and scorched his eye with a magnifying lens to wring his partner's location out of him, and Abbacchio's Moody Blues confirmed he had already leaked the group's position and the plan tied to Capri. Once Sale fell too, Zucchero was left senseless on the boat.

The light novel Purple Haze Feedback carries him further. Giorno, now Passione's boss, sends him along with Sale and Fugo to atone by hunting Massimo Volpe and the surviving narcotics crew. Angelica Attanasio's Stand lures the pair to a warehouse near Villa San Giovanni, where Zucchero deflates himself and Sale to slip in close. Massimo catches him and crushes his will with Manic Depression, robbing him of command over his own body.

Reduced to a flattened, near-mute shell, he is toyed with, interrogated by reading his lip movements, and finally sent as a decoy against Sheila E. She outwits him with Voodoo Child, stretching his body across the pavement until Manic Depression pushes his blood pressure past its limit, his veins burst, and his frame swells and shatters, grinding every bone to powder.
