Mitsuba Higashikata

Mitsuba has a slim to average frame and, in her first look, short reddish hair with sideswept bangs that curl upward, worn with a top cut open at the chest, a checkered skirt, and heels. Her later style drops the curled bangs and lengthens the sides to hide her ears, where the skin has begun turning to stone. That outfit adds a knotted short-sleeve top, shorts, wristbands, a long see-through dress, and high heels, marked with downward and paired up-and-down arrow symbols.

Her body petrifies in stages as a result of her hospital treatments. It begins with her teeth, then the scalp above her right ear, and eventually both legs crumble toward the bone. A further Locacaca treatment costs her unborn child its arms, and after she eats another fruit to save the baby, she is left with a nose of stone.

Mitsuba is deeply vain, fixated on looking flawless, and capable of small cruelties, as when she shuts an elevator on an elderly woman with crutches just to ride alone. Beneath that surface, though, she loves her children fiercely, swallowing a Locacaca to protect the unborn baby even at the risk of her own life.

For her family she becomes a ruthless and inventive fighter, stomping Wu Tomoki when he blocks her path and turning her Stand on the teachers who accuse Tsurugi. She grows uneasy about Jobin's secretive use of the New Locacaca yet goes along with it to protect the household, even trying to speed the drowning of Yasuho's Stand to keep the fruit out of anyone else's reach.

Awaking III Leaves, her Stand, manifests as a cloaked figure studded with arrow motifs, and lets her call up small arrows that deflect energy and objects outward toward their points. In her youth she was crowned Miss Cherry after winning a contest that sent her to China and Europe, met Jobin, married into the family, and became a model in the Higashikata Fruit Company's advertising. She is introduced as Jobin's wife when Josuke first arrives at the household.

During the Doctor Wu affair, a stony ear and sudden loss of balance send her to the university hospital, where Dr. Wu hides the petrification and traces it to a string of equivalent exchanges that began after her cosmetic surgery. Yasuho stumbles onto the truth, and Mitsuba, at times under Wu's control, ends up battling the doctor through the halls, discovering that her pregnancy has been struck too. She hurls Wu's fragments from the building, eats a Locacaca to rescue the child, and loses her nose once the fruit takes hold.

As the family harvest nears, she collects Tsurugi from school and watches a classmate who had mocked him get crushed in the gates, with the ominous Dr. Satoru Akefu lurking nearby on the footage. Later, as Tsurugi's Rock Disease worsens, she spots Yasuho pleading for help on the security cameras and moves to hasten the Stand's drowning, only for Wonder of U's calamity to stop her. When the family uncovers the Locacaca that Jobin hid, Toru strikes to seize it and kills Jobin, leaving Mitsuba, Daiya, and Hato to grieve. After Toru is beaten and the Rock Disease finally ends, she joins the others in welcoming Norisuke home and accepting Josuke as one of the Higashikata.
