Unità Speciale

Known also as the Special Squad, Unità Speciale is a top-tier unit operating inside Passione. Diavolo sends it into motion once Bruno Bucciarati and his crew turn against him, tasking its members with killing the defectors and Trish Una. Notably, most of those members feel little genuine loyalty to Diavolo and act on their own motives. The squad's five known operatives make up the villains of the latter half of the story.

The squad enters the fray piecemeal as its members strike the traitors for varying reasons. The pairing of Squalo and Tiziano opens the campaign, motivated by money and the boss's approval, using Narancia Ghirga as a pawn for Tiziano's Talking Head while Squalo's Clash whittles the group down, singling out Giorno for his dangerous healing gift, until Narancia and Giorno turn the tables and kill both assassins in public. At the airport, Carne is cut down by Guido Mista, but his Stand Notorious B.I.G manifests aboard the gang's plane and cripples much of the group before Trish's newly awakened Spice Girl casts it into the sea.

As the fugitives near Rome, Diavolo falls back on his final pair, Cioccolata and Secco, who serve their own twisted appetites rather than any loyalty. Their assault leaves much of the city dead or maimed, ending only when Giorno destroys Cioccolata aboard a helicopter and a dying Bucciarati brings down Secco outside the Colosseum. With his squad spent, Diavolo resolves to deal with the traitors personally.

The unit's five elite guards are Squalo, Tiziano, Carne, Cioccolata, and Secco, all of whom perish in the course of their assignments. They answer, at least nominally, to the boss Diavolo and his alternate self Vinegar Doppio, though several pursue their own ends. Whether the squad held additional members is left unclear, since Diavolo was reduced to confronting Team Bucciarati himself once Cioccolata and Secco fell.
