Yasuho Hirose

Slim and standing 166 cm tall, Yasuho wears her cherry-blossom-pink hair at shoulder length, gathered into several pigtails fastened with round clips. She depends on contact lenses, being visually impaired without them. Her first outfit pairs a wide-necked, cap-sleeved blouse with a rose-dotted short skirt, leg warmers, and either walking boots or athletic shoes, while a later look swaps in a sleeveless top with roses on its straps.

Gentle in manner but endlessly curious, Yasuho is a touch naive yet clearly sharp, tracing the amnesiac's past from the brand inside his cap and reading his character well enough to conclude he was not the kind of man behind the disturbing photos in Kira's home. She is quicker to be shaken than Josuke, and her home life weighs on her: she resents her mother's careless lifestyle, and after her parents' divorce she clung to her father so tightly that a fabricated version of him rejecting her once pushed her toward suicide. Her warmth toward Josuke grows into genuine romance, shown when the two are seen holding hands, while her lingering attachment to her ex Toru fades once she learns he is a Rock Human who exploited her since childhood. She also forms a close bond with Tsurugi Higashikata, and over the course of her many battles she hardens from a helpless bystander into a resourceful fighter. Her Stand, Paisley Park, is not built for direct combat; instead it steers people important to her toward safer or more useful paths and powers her investigations.

Born in Morioh around 1991 or 1992, Yasuho grew up in the town as a childhood friend of Joshu Higashikata and once kept a dog she named Josuke. Her parents split when she was ten, after which she lived with her mother and spent weekends with her father. A decade before the main story, a summer camp brought her together with Toru, who had her use Paisley Park to locate an identity he could steal, that of one Satoru Akefu. At thirteen she bought a hair clip that was secretly a Rock Animal in disguise; it made her shed skin flakes and conjured a false image of her father cutting ties with her, nearly driving her to take her life until her mother intervened. During her recovery she crossed paths with Holy Joestar-Kira and Yoshikage Kira, the latter destroying the clip. Years later she reconnected with and dated Toru without recalling who he was.

Her role in JoJolion begins when she discovers a naked man in a sailor's cap half-buried near the Wall Eyes. Joshu's jealous attack is repelled by the stranger's mysterious power, and Yasuho chooses to help him escape the hospital and recover his identity. Reading the label in his hat leads them to the name Yoshikage Kira, though she decides he better suits the name Josuke, after her old dog. After the pair find a sordid photo album and later the real Kira's corpse, she lodges Josuke with the Higashikata family, and a DNA test returns the impossible result that Kira and Josuke are, to within 95.8 percent, the same person.

Dragged beneath the Meditation Pine into the Higashikata cellar, she meets Tsurugi and learns that the family's firstborn sons are raised as girls to fend off a curse. In the Paper Moon King ordeal, Tsurugi's Stand warps every face around her, and the architect Yotsuyu Yagiyama waterboards her to force out her Stand. She then investigates the Locacaca alongside Tsurugi, helping expose Aisho Dainenjiyama, and in the hunt for the Blue Hawaii user she is ambushed by Jobin before single-handedly overpowering the limbless Dolomite. She survives the Urban Guerrilla assault during the plant appraiser arc and later, in the Doctor Wu affair, is attacked by Wu Tomoki as he puppets Mitsuba, purging him with her arrows before Josuke arrives to finish the job.

In the Wonder of You arc, the pursuit of Satoru Akefu culminates in Toru being unmasked as both the user of Wonder of U and a Rock Human. A calamity tears off Yasuho's arm, which Joshu heals with the new Locacaca at the cost of his own, and Kei Nijimura dies delivering the phone housing Paisley Park to Josuke. Once Yasuho identifies Toru as the enemy, Josuke unleashes Soft & Wet's Go Beyond to bypass the calamity and bring him down. In the story's quiet close, she walks with Josuke to the Higashikata fruit parlor and, moved by the moment, weeps tears of happiness.
