Judgement, Part 2

As Polnareff's reckless wish curdles into a nightmare, Judgement mocks him for laying his heart's weakness bare through those very requests. True to the deal, the Stand sculpts a clay figure of Avdol that turns on Polnareff, blaming him for its death and demanding retribution, soon joined by the false Sherry who craves his flesh to "recover." Polnareff calls out Silver Chariot, but Judgement pins the Stand in place and lets the earthen creatures feast on him until he resigns himself to dying. Then a second Avdol appears, which he first dismisses as a hallucination, until this newcomer smashes the clay doll and summons Magician's Red.

Against all odds, Avdol is alive, having survived because Hol Horse's bullet merely grazed his skull. Bolstered by the rescue, Polnareff finds the resolve to destroy the fake doll, and the two turn on Judgement together. Though the Stand initially seems evenly matched against them, Avdol toys with it and demonstrates that Magician's Red is by far the stronger, defeating Judgement with ease and sending it into retreat. They then hunt down its user, Cameo, and dispatch him in a thoroughly humiliating fashion.

Reunited with the rest of the group, Polnareff is stunned to learn that everyone else already knew Avdol had lived, having hidden the truth so the enemy would not catch on. Avdol goes on to explain that he had impersonated his own father in order to secure a submarine for the team's onward journey.

Judgement torments Polnareff with a clay Avdol and the fake Sherry while binding Silver Chariot. A living Avdol, saved when Hol Horse's shot only grazed him, intervenes with Magician's Red, shatters the doll, and helps Polnareff rally. The pair overpower Judgement, force it to flee, and humiliatingly finish off its user Cameo. Polnareff then discovers the group had concealed Avdol's survival as a ruse, and that Avdol posed as his own father to buy the team a submarine.

Yasuko Kobayashi wrote the episode, with Yasufumi Soejima on storyboard, and it aired on August 30, 2014, adapting the tail of chapter 176 through most of chapter 179. Its opening is STAND PROUD and its ending is Walk Like an Egyptian. Marking Avdol's official comeback, the installment leans heavily into action and adds fresh exchanges, such as the fake Avdol displaying the wound left by Emperor and an added moment between the false Sherry and Polnareff.
