Let's Go to the Manga Artist's House, Part 2

Still under Heaven's Door's control, Koichi Hirose returns to Rohan Kishibe's studio and watches the artist draw at blinding speed, energized by everything he has read inside the boy. Craving more material, Rohan rips out another page and accidentally restores Koichi's awareness that his host is a Stand user. When the doorbell announces Josuke Higashikata and Okuyasu Nijimura, Koichi tries to warn them but a safety command written into him keeps him silent. Okuyasu bursts back in through a window after noticing an untreated cut on Koichi's hand, only for Rohan to convert him into a book and coolly call out Josuke hiding behind the door.

Threatening to make Okuyasu set himself alight, Rohan forces Josuke to enter with his eyes shut. Drawing on Koichi's memories, the artist mocks Josuke's hair to bait him into opening them, but the taunt backfires spectacularly as blind rage sends Josuke charging past the manuscript to hammer Rohan into a bookshelf, freeing both captives. Koichi then recalls Josuke's past: as a four-year-old stranded in a blizzard on the way to a hospital, he was rescued by a student sporting a pompadour, a stranger who inspired the hairstyle Josuke now defends with fury. Rohan tries to jot the tale down for later, and Josuke beats him until he quits, leaving the serial Pink Dark Boy on a one-month hiatus.

Josuke defeats Rohan by turning his infamous hair-trigger temper into an unstoppable, sightless assault. The episode delivers Josuke's childhood backstory and the enduring mystery of his unnamed savior, and it frees Koichi and Okuyasu from Heaven's Door. Rohan's defeat forces his manga into a publicized break.

The adaptation removes Koichi noting that Rohan outpaces Crazy Diamond, adds an on-screen counter for how long Rohan needs to form a plan, and works Iggy into the recalled Part 3 group scene. The pages of Pink Dark Boy shown here were drawn by Reki Taki, a former assistant of Hirohiko Araki. Araki has never revealed who the blizzard rescuer truly was, so the flashback was staged in the silent-film style of early cinema.
