Once Misato Kuroi's kidnapping is handled, the escort mission winds toward a quiet conclusion. Riko spends her final days reflecting on her future as the Star Plasma Vessel before the merger. Then catastrophe arrives when an unseen killer challenges even the mighty Six Eyes.

The rescue of Kuroi goes off without trouble, and the group relaxes on a beach in Okinawa after thoroughly screening their flight. Backup is stationed at Naha Airport in the form of first-years Kento Nanami and Yu Haibara. Gojo keeps Infinity active and refuses sleep, trusting Geto to watch his back, and the two give Riko memorable final days of sightseeing, fine dining, and an aquarium visit that delights her. Returning to Jujutsu High as the bounty timer ends, Gojo finally drops Infinity, only for Toji Fushiguro to run a blade clean through his chest from behind.

Toji admits he once watched a young Gojo to glimpse the Six Eyes, the only time anyone ever noticed him standing behind them, and that he deliberately wore down Gojo's senses for this strike. Gojo flings Toji up with Blue and Geto's worm curse swallows him, but Toji cuts free with a fresh weapon and reveals a cursed spirit coiled around his body. He set the bounty himself purely to keep Gojo from lowering Infinity early. Gojo recognizes that Toji has no cursed energy and a heavenly restriction granting overwhelming physique. After a Maximum Output: Blue clears the area, Toji releases fly heads as cover, then pierces the Infinity to stab Gojo in the neck with the Inverted Spear of Heaven, a special grade tool that halts any cursed technique. Toji slashes him repeatedly and stabs his brain. Below ground, Geto escorts Riko to the Tombs of the Star and offers her the choice to live, only for Toji to shoot her dead before his eyes, declaring he has killed Satoru Gojo.

The third Gojo's Past Arc episode adapts chapters seventy through seventy-two and aired in Japan on July 20, 2023. Geto reveals that Yaga labeled the merger an erasure so his students would grasp the gravity of the act, and that he and Gojo had agreed to honor Riko's choice even against Tengen. Riko, after accepting her fate, breaks down and says she wants to keep living alongside everyone. Enraged by her death and the news of Gojo's fall, Geto summons Rainbow Dragon and Kuchisake-Onna and orders Toji to die.
