Overview

At the spiritual center of the order stands Tengen, hailed by adherents as their one true god. Within the ranks he was exalted under the title Star, while outsiders knew the public branch as the Star Religious Group. Anyone who embraced the doctrine carried the name Children of the Star. Since every worshipper was an ordinary person and not a spellcaster, sorcerers had no grounds to move against them, a quirk that lent the body real safety inside the supernatural underworld.

Its origins trace to the Nara era, the period when Tengen was just beginning to carry Buddhist teaching across Japan. What those first believers preached would, in time, lay the groundwork for jujutsu sorcery. Sorcery and faith, however, refused to sit comfortably together, and the resulting fracture is precisely what gave rise to the organization. Down through the generations it held fast to a single-god creed, dragging those convictions all the way into modern times.

Role

Wealth and clout defined the group by 2006, when it had buried itself in the underbelly of sorcery while masking its real character behind a presentable flock. Trouble surfaced once Tengen approached one of his transformations, opening the door to a tainted fusion. For followers devoted to a flawless Tengen, fusing him with a Star Plasma Vessel amounted to blasphemy; such a bond would defile his purity and trigger the order's ruin.

Too weak to push back on their own, the leaders turned to a contract killer, hiring Toji Zenin with an offer of thirty million yen to do away with the chosen vessel, Riko Amanai. Even before collecting a single coin, Toji listed a reward on the girl through a forum favored by cursed-energy users, his aim being to grind down her two special grade guardians, Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto. After the opening wave was repelled, an ordinary believer abducted Misato Kuroi, the woman charged with looking after the vessel. Killing the captive was set aside; instead the schemers allowed the escort to win her back, planting a false sense of safety that flung the protectors off to Okinawa, much to the amusement of Toji and the go-between Shiu Kong. In the end the assassin shattered the guardians and struck down the vessel, hauling Riko's body to the order's base for a bonus payment, before a rejuvenated Gojo cut him down and recovered the corpse.

Notable Members

By the time Gojo and Geto arrived at the order's grounds, nothing but ordinary worshippers were left, since the leaders linked to the sorcery world had already slipped away. Buried under existing problems and with no way to excuse its strike at Jujutsu High, the body was compelled to break apart. Its survivors, even so, stayed tied to other groups of a similar mind. Once Suguru Geto embraced cursed energy, he seized command over these remnants at a sprawling gathering of directors, representatives, and chairmen. Dissent rose up at the start, yet Geto crushed it by slaying Shigeru Sonoda in front of everyone, which left the non-sorcerers no option but obedience. Their primary stronghold, known by the romaji name Hoshi no Ko no Ie, was a sprawling and costly-looking church that housed both a tucked-away room for private councils and an open hall fitted with a stage for assemblies.
