Confession

An Emitter Quirk with long-range reach, Confession is used by Shin Nemoto and, after fusion, by Kai Chisaki by way of Overhaul. Once the user poses a question, the person questioned has no choice but to reply truthfully. It debuts in Chapter 149 and in Episode 74.

The power strips away concealment. Genuine thoughts, hidden plans, secrets and feelings all come out, whether the subject is an ally or an enemy, which makes it a tool for gathering intelligence, inflicting psychological torment, and rooting out treachery before it starts. That value is why Overhaul prized Shin above the rest of the Eight Bullets.

Literalism is the flaw. Asked whether they had been instructed to betray Overhaul, Himiko Toga and Twice answered no in complete honesty, since the actual instruction had merely been a reminder that they outranked the Shie Hassaikai. Their eventual turn on the yakuza organization grew instead from their own wish to avenge Magne.

The Quirk carries no offensive weight at all, leaving its user to fight by other means, and both sides need working mouths. If either the user or the target is unable to speak, Confession does nothing.

Shin Nemoto is the original user, mining whatever information Overhaul wanted and verifying that nobody in the Shie Hassaikai planned to betray it. In combat he turns the Quirk emotional, dragging admissions out of people about things they are not proud of. Kai Chisaki gains access to it after fusing with Shin through Overhaul.
