Fierce Wings

Character

The red wings that carried Keigo Takami to the No. 2 hero ranking were never only for flight. Every feather thinks with him, senses for him, and cuts on command. Fire was always the threat hanging over it, Dabi proved as much, and All For One eventually took what was left.

Overview

Fierce Wings, read in Japanese as Gōyoku, was the Mutant Quirk held by Keigo Takami until All For One stripped it away from him in Chapter 385. It debuts in Chapter 185 and Episode 87, and its range varies with how it is used.

What it grants is a broad crimson wingspan built out of dozens of feathers, every one of which the holder directs by thought alone. Keigo's version reads as a blend of what both his parents carried, taking the feathers from his father and the telepathic control and sensing from his mother's unnamed additional-eyeball Quirk. It runs along similar lines to Pony Tsunotori's Horn Cannon, since both involve detaching parts of the body and steering them from a distance.

Mechanics

A full set of feathers makes for extraordinary flight speed. Individual feathers detach to handle tasks on their own while staying linked to the user's mind. They are stiff and pliable at once, strong enough that one alone can move a person around, and they differ from each other in size, strength, and cutting ability. Each also works as a sensor, reading the vibrations of people and objects nearby, which stretches the user's awareness far past their own body and lets them work at considerable range.

Detaching too many at once degrades flight and costs mobility. Feathers that survive intact can be reattached to the wings, while destroyed ones grow back within two days.

Keigo names fire as his single worst weakness, since burning his feathers cripples his movement. The wings themselves mend slowly. Dabi came close to burning them away entirely in the Paranormal Liberation War, and what grew back was too stunted for him to stay airborne while carrying someone. By the Final War it emerged that Recovery Girl could not restore them fully, leaving him dependent on prosthetics as he tries to reach his old speeds. When All For One finally took the Quirk, the damaged Quirk Factor meant he inherited nothing but the weakened feather stubs, which made it functionally useless to him.

Notable Users

Keigo Takami built a career on it. Flying and fighting at extreme speed lifted him to the No. 2 Pro Hero ranking and left him among the fastest fighters alive; he handles common criminals so quickly that his subordinates exist mainly to mop up behind him while he moves to the next target, and his pace matched Hood, an opponent carrying several enhancement-type Quirks.

Rescue work is where his finesse shows. He can assign a single feather to a single person and float them clear of danger, and by scattering feathers across a wide area he catches every vibration inside it. Aware that his supply is finite, he refuses to burn through his feathers without cause, and knowing the Quirk does little for his raw strength, he compensates by wielding the feathers as blades, slicing through enemies at speed or firing the smaller ones off like daggers.

He also works well in support of a power type. Alongside Endeavor against Hood, he fixed his own wings onto Endeavor's back to give him flight and enough speed to trade with the High-End Nomu. His named Ultimate Move, Soundwave Vibration-Enhanced Flight Feather Blade, borrows Kyoka Jiro's Legato so that he can circle an opponent and strike with a blade; turned on All For One, it hit hard enough to shatter the reinforced helmet running the villain's life support. All For One is the other listed user, though the theft brought him nothing worth having.
