Slide and Glide

Slide and Glide is the emitter Quirk used by Koichi Haimawari in Vigilantes, rated close range and present from the spin-off's opening chapter and first episode. Once Koichi adopts the hero name The Skycrawler, the ability is formally reclassified under a new title, Flight, making it the first known Quirk renamed within the story itself. Despite sharing an English word, its Japanese spelling differs from the Flight belonging to Christopher Skyline.

The Quirk emits force through the hands and feet, and that force runs in two directions. Repulsion carries a blue glow, attraction a green one.

Pushing lightly against a surface lets the user skate across it. Early on that meant keeping pace with a bicycle, though Koichi eventually reached speeds comparable to a bus in a hurry, and he can slide in reverse, cut sideways, or spin while doing it. Flipping over to attraction pins his palms and soles against a wall, so he can climb a building's face and then peel off it into a glide.

Compressing the energy into the center of the palms produces beams. Their output ranges from a point-blank blast to a soft shot fired across a gap, from rapid volleys to a focused lance that drills straight through solid material.

Flight arrives in the form of a mid-air jump, where the contact pads on his feet behave like thrusters and throw him upward at real speed and altitude. He assumed two jumps were his ceiling before gravity claimed him, yet sheer determination has carried him through several in a row with nothing to pay for it.

At his peak Koichi rivals Overclock for top speed, cancels detonation blasts with his repulsion, and projects the force field from any part of himself, his back included. He can also sheathe his whole body in it, echoing the way Christopher Skyline's Flight behaves, which braces his injuries like a cast and leaves him gently floating.

Control has not always been reliable. Repeated headfirst crashes in childhood degraded it until he needed three points of contact before he could slide at all. Speed itself is hazardous, since nothing about the Quirk brakes him or spares him the impact, a gap he closed only after Tensei Ida suggested stopping by accelerating the opposite way.

Koichi Haimawari is the only known user. Levitation by sliding on air was within reach when he was small, until his strict mother drove the habit out of him. The instinct resurfaced as limited flight when he rescued Makoto Tsukauchi, and full flight followed years later. His beams could bore through practically anything, human bodies included, and he deliberately restrains them against people because Kazuho Haneyama worries about how lethal they are.

His named Ultimate Moves span the range of the Quirk. Kowtow Evasion slides him backward out of a bow, High-Speed Double Sweep hooks an opponent's legs out from under them, and Wall Cling converts repulsion into adhesion. Scrappy Thrust Style channels a beam through one limb, Slap Style folds that into evasive close combat, and Double Shooty-Go-Blam fires from both hands at once. The Crawler's Shooty-Go-Blam charges a single heavy blast, its Blam-Blam-Blam-Blam extension pours out a continuous stream, and Shooty-Go-Kablam condenses a small projectile able to punch through metal or a person. Extra Oomph briefly raises his output and speed, while Knuckle Style arms his fists with the force field.
