Final Act Saga

Running from Chapter 307 through Chapter 431 across Volumes 32 to 42, this saga brings the series to a close, with the anime adaptation covering the same ground from Episode 132 to Episode 171. It follows the Rise of Villains Saga and has no successor.

Three pressures define the era. Whole districts have been leveled, the roster of active professionals has thinned through death and retirement, and the worst criminals in the country remain uncaught. Confidence in heroes collapses, and the civil order built on that confidence begins to give way. All For One has slipped back out of sight, Tomura Shigaraki is idle while his ruined body mends, and the prize both of them want is the power sitting inside Izuku Midoriya.

Rather than let his classmates be used against him, Izuku abandons U.A. and works in secret with All Might and the country's top three professionals, offering himself as bait to draw out the League of Villains, the Paranormal Liberation Front, and the Tartarus escapees while hunting a lead on where All For One and Tomura are hiding. Carrying it alone wears him down in body and mind, and Class 1-A eventually corners him and refuses to let him continue by himself. Katsuki Bakugo goes furthest, apologizing for years of cruelty. Returned to campus, Izuku meets an openly hostile public until Ochaco Uraraka's plea persuades them to reconsider.

Intelligence recovered by Stain warns All Might that Tomura will be finished far sooner than expected, prompting a call for foreign reinforcement that reaches Cathleen Bate, America's ranking hero. All For One covets her reality-bending power, New Order, and sends the still-unfinished Tomura, whose mind is bleeding together with his own, to take it. She dies, but not before rewriting her own quirk into a virus that devours several of his, including itself, shelving him again to heal. The heroes then discover that Yuga Aoyama is the traitor inside U.A., given Navel Laser by All For One as a child and pressed into leaking. Rather than cast him out, his class turns him into the hook.

Using Aoyama's line to the enemy, and with Neito Monoma copying Kurogiri's Warp Gate, the heroes yank every major threat into a separate battlefield scattered across Japan so none can support another. Himiko Toga shoves Izuku through the wrong portal, leaving the professionals to hold a floating U.A. against the body the Quirk Singularity has made of Tomura. Shoto Todoroki puts Dabi down with Phosphor only to watch his brother copy the technique and rise, Endeavor comes within an inch of killing All For One before the villain reverse-engineers the Quirk-Destroying Drug into Rewind and restores his prime, and Katsuki takes a fatal wound that the surviving heroes refuse to accept. A returning Izuku answers with the full weight of One For All against the Tomura and All For One fusion.

Spinner cuts Kurogiri loose to reshuffle the field, Toga borrows Twice's face to multiply the chaos, and Tomura throws off All For One's grip long enough that the original races to complete the transfer himself while the remaining heroes stall him. The Todoroki family closes ranks and denies Dabi his self-destruction. Ochaco outlasts Toga and her Doubles, and the two reach an understanding before Toga gives her life to keep Ochaco alive. A mechanized All Might pushes All For One to his limit and nearly dies for it, until a revived Katsuki intervenes and lands the finishing blow, letting the rewind effect run and erase the villain for good. Cornered, Izuku forces every quirk factor into Tomura and reaches the grief buried beneath him, only for All For One's vestige to seize the body and reveal it had authored Tomura's entire life. Izuku, his classmates, and what is left of the profession stage one last assault and destroy the thing as Tomura's body decays.

Reconstruction becomes a national effort, with heroes leading the rebuild across the country. The third-years graduate, Class 1-A moves up a year, Hitoshi Shinso transfers in, and Yuga steps aside to keep atoning. Izuku adjusts to nothing but the embers of One For All and passes Tomura's last words along to Spinner. The Todorokis visit a slowly dying Toya, intending to spend whatever time remains with him, and Ochaco grieves Toga with Izuku beside her.

Eight years on, Izuku is quirkless again and teaching at U.A. while his former classmates work as professionals. After talking a young boy into pursuing the job, he is handed a powered suit by All Might that puts him back in the field alongside them. A reunion with the old class ends with Izuku and Ochaco admitting how they feel about each other.
