Cylindrical dispensers sit where his elbows should be, and everything that defines him launches from there. Above them, a lean and notably tall build carries black hair cut around chin length and spiked downward, its bangs jagged across the middle of the forehead. Broad almond eyes with small pupils sit over a wide grin full of straight teeth, though Katsuki Bakugo and Present Mic have both called the overall effect unremarkable.

Class dress is the standard male U.A. set: gray blazer edged in dark turquoise, white dress shirt, blue-green trousers, red tie, brown shoes. On duty he zips into a black turtlenecked bodysuit marked with a white design at the midsection and yellow banding on each elbow-length sleeve, adds white boots lined in yellow, links dispenser-shaped shoulder pads with a chest strap, and finishes with a yellow helmet whose broad black visor hides his face.

Eight years past the Final War he has gained height, some muscle, slightly longer hair, and a thin mustache. The costume survives largely intact, with a redesigned helmet, heeled boots, a brown chest strap in place of the old one, and black wristbands.

Sociability is his default setting. He talks easily with everyone in Class 1-A, gets loud when there is an audience, and enjoys showing off what his Quirk can do. He is usually the one who says out loud that his classmates are behaving strangely, and he says it as a joke.

Underneath the banter sits real nerve. Facing Shoto Todoroki at the Sports Festival, he admitted the matchup was hopeless and attacked anyway because losing appealed even less. The crushing result, and a Final Exam failure courtesy of Midnight putting him to sleep, left his appetite for improvement untouched. He is candid about his lack of drama, telling "All For One" late in the war that no tragedy pushed him forward, only a refusal to fall behind on the next practical.

He teases freely, Bakugo included, and occasionally insults people without meaning to, as when he likened Momo Yaoyorozu's Creation to digestion and had to be marched into an apology by Kyoka Jiro. Girls interest him more quietly than they interest Denki or Minoru, though he shook Izuku violently for details after hearing that Himiko Toga had copied Ochaco, then relayed the whole story to his friends, confirming a taste for gossip.

Tape gives him dispenser organs inside both elbows that shoot and retract long cellophane strips, sturdier than the household product, at the cost of dried-out skin when he overuses them. He binds targets from range by knotting strips around their bodies, fires several strands at once, and can produce a double-sided variant. Continuous production drills raised his capacity along with the material's tensile strength and firing speed.

Distance suits him. Accuracy at range, plus tape strung across rooms and corridors as traps and blockades, makes him a serious long-range fighter, while anchoring strips to surfaces lets him swing or reel himself around. He reinforces barricades with it, leaves loose pieces that allies can exploit when he cannot act himself, and pairs it with other Quirks: strands tied to objects floating under Ochaco Uraraka's Zero Gravity produce a trap neither could build alone. Above-average strength backs all of it, since he slings his own weight and other people's without visible strain. At the U.S.J. he and Rikido Sato pinned Kurogiri down while Ochaco ran interference; against Shoto he had one of the class's strongest bound and nearly beaten before a wall of ice ended it. That performance drew The Lurkers, and interning under Kamui Woods, Mt. Lady, and Edgeshot sharpened his close-quarters teamwork.

His grades sit low, but his reading of a fight does not. In the Joint Training Battle's fourth round he worked out that Setsuna Tokage could not regrow her pieces indefinitely, and that heavy fragmentation drained her focus much as Creation drains Momo, which explained why she kept recalling her split anatomy. He then stuck one of Katsuki's grenades onto a fragment she called back, and handed his team the win. His named moves are Barricade Tape, which sheets the surroundings to shield himself and others, and Tape Shot: Trident, which seizes objects and hurls them as projectiles.
