Iwao Oguro

Height and slabs of muscle make him hard to miss, and a scar runs at an angle from his inner brow down to his jaw on the left. His black hair is cropped short beneath heavy brows, and stubble covers most of what the scar does not.

The O'Clock costume was a burgundy bodysuit lined in white across the mask, torso, and limbs, with dark blue panels over the upper chest and the inner surfaces of his arms and legs. A half mask with horizontal yellow eye slits hid his face, and a golden emblem ringed in white sat on chest and shoulders.

What he wears today is scavenged by comparison: a hunter green trench coat over a tight black shirt, boots and khaki military trousers cinched by a belt, and a torn black wrap knotted across his head as a mask. Above his gloves sit the silver knuckledusters that gave him the name.

Number 6 cost him much of that body. His right leg needs a cane, a brace supports the left, burns mark his neck, and scar tissue has closed his left eye.

Iwao believes in doing the right thing and does not much care that no license permits it. Every night he goes after street thugs and neighborhood gangs, the crimes most professionals consider beneath their attention, and he holds no bitterness toward heroes for it. He also loves a fight: powerful villains excite rather than frighten him, and nothing sours his mood faster than a night with no one worth hitting.

His default answer to any problem is violence, delivered first with questions to follow, and his teammates routinely drag him back. He once went after Enigma on nothing but suspicion, and she turned out to be a hero using her Quirk to find her way. Yet he is far sharper than the brawling implies: he saw through Mario Kugutsu's toy salesman routine, and he called Stendhal dangerous on sight. Out of costume he passes as a courteous professional named Takeshi Kuroiwa, business cards included.

Underneath it all he is generous with the people he keeps, having trained Koichi Haimawari's fighting and his Slide and Glide because the boy once helped him at his lowest. In the O'Clock years he was a stoic professional who worked often with the Police Force, ran an undercover identity as the masked fighter The Ripper, and judged his Quirk better suited to gathering intelligence than open war.

Losing Overclock and being burned for it dropped him into depression and drink. He raged at Tamao's ambition to make music until she walked out, and the consequence arrived when she came home with a parasitic bee villain, Kuin Hachisuka, riding inside her. Reflection convinced him O'Clock had been a failure, one more part of a machine that only treated symptoms, which is why he refused Number 6's request to inherit the name.

Once his daughter was free he stepped away to nurse her recovery, returning when he learned Number 6 carried his stolen Quirk. He told the man that whatever worth he had was already handed down to those who followed. Years later he meant to finish their rematch by wiring the building and going up with it, until Soga Kugisaki refused to allow it, and when the Naruhata Vigilantes disbanded he simply went back out on patrol.

He has no Quirk at all, confirmed when Eraser Head trained Erasure on him to no effect, and it has never slowed him down. His strength and technique let him trade evenly with that same Pro Hero, and with brass knuckles he beat Stendhal outright, landing a decisive blow before the notorious swordsman could touch him. He once cleared a gang of armed men in Hong Kong, and as The Ripper he survived a cage match against Kendo Rappa unmarked.

People assume a Quirk lies behind that strength. He traded punches with Chuma Yakumaru while the man was flooded with Trigger and put him down anyway, and Koichi has noticed he holds back during training. He is equally hard to damage, absorbing blows that could break through Eijiro Kirishima's Unbreakable.

Tactically he reverse-engineers a Trigger-boosted Quirk while it is being used on him, and he planned Kuin Hachisuka's defeat in advance without costing Tamao her life. He speaks Japanese and Cantonese fluently.

Overclock accelerated his perception until the world crawled past in slow motion, granting matching speed, though it ran only seconds before demanding a cool-down. His kit is improvised: brass knuckles, a grappling hook, binoculars, painkillers and a Taser Knuckle bought from Giran, a Pheromone Cocktail rigged to lure bees before detonating, firearms, and a radio box used to disrupt Number 6.
