Kido is one of the thirty-odd sidekicks at the Endeavor Agency and a Flaming Sidekicker. His Quirk, Traject, bends anything that passes through his bandages, air included, which is how a man with no resistance to heat survives standing beside the country's top fire hero.

Appearance

Bandages define him. They wind across his whole face and continue over stretches of his arms and hands, leaving brown hair and gray eyes as the only features on offer. His build is unremarkable, and the rest of his costume amounts to a flak jacket pulled over a short-sleeved shirt.

Personality

Next to Burnin he barely registers, which is rather the point. He is quiet, proud of the squad he belongs to, and content to carry out Endeavor's instructions without commentary.

His preference is for a cool head and a logical read of the situation. That is why he informed Shoto Todoroki that being the boss's son bought him nothing, and that he would get exactly the same treatment as Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo.

History

His Quirk, Traject, redirects anything in motion that passes through his bandages, living things and incorporeal things such as air included. He earned his license roughly a decade before the Paranormal Liberation War. His first appearance on the job is unglamorous: after Gran Torino flattens the Nomu at Hosu, Kido and Onima stand watch over the creature until the police can take it away. Later the two of them worry aloud about their boss, whose fixation on unanswered messages to his son has started to show.

When Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto arrive for their work-studies, the Flaming Sidekickers give them a loud welcome, and Kido helps haul in a villain Endeavor has already beaten. He also joins the international operation against Humarise after the terrorist group detonates a Trigger Bomb and levels a city.

At Jaku he is assigned to the hospital raid meant to seize Kyudai Garaki and the unfinished Tomura Shigaraki. The doctor releases his Nomu instead, Tomura wakes, and Decay erases the hospital along with much of the city around it. Kido lives through it and joins the pursuit of the Near High-Ends that flee with Tomura, later helping Endeavor find the momentum he needs.

The Final War sends him to Kamino alongside Burnin and Onima to back Shoto against Dabi. Dabi turns the district into a firestorm, and when Onima points out that Kido has nothing protecting him from the heat, Kido answers that steering hot air is exactly what he has spent years doing at Endeavor's side. He proves it by shoving a Hell Spider tendril off course, buying Shoto the seconds required to fire Phosphor and drop the villain. Securing the body goes badly. Dabi copies the move, and Kido and Onima burn trying to shield Shoto from it. Burnin pulls him out while Shoto and Tenya chase Dabi toward Gunga.

He survives his injuries and recovers. Afterward he drives Endeavor and his family to Central Hospital to visit Toya in his life support pod, then waits outside with Onima, Untenmaru Kurumada, and the rest of the squad for Enji and Rei.
