Appearance

Before the Villain Factory got hold of him he looked like a street tough and little else: jutting cheekbones, teeth filed to points, a flat nose, ears that stuck out, no eyebrows, blank pupil-less eyes, and short black hair cut into spikes.

The modification kept that face and built an insect around it. Chitin plates and a pair of antennae grew in above the neck. His torso stayed roughly human with insectoid touches, but below it he gained a mantis abdomen carried on four segmented legs, and both arms tapered into scythes. After the timeskip he tops the whole arrangement with a waiter's uniform for his shifts at Hopper's Cafe.

Personality

The Hotta brothers, Ichiro and Jiro, are fond of him and blunt about him. They warned him off the tainted Trigger circulating through the streets, he took it anyway, and they have called him an idiot for it ever since. They also think he overstates every grievance he has.

None of which makes him a bad man. He has genuinely thoughtful things to say about a society whose infrastructure and social programs were never built with minorities in mind, and he resents his mantis body mainly for how much harder it makes an ordinary day. Strangers read him as a villain on sight, which stings, though he judges other mutants by their bodies in precisely the same way and gets called on it. He also turns out to have taste: tea, classical music, decent manners, and a firm opinion about privacy.

Abilities

Mantis was unremarkable until the Villain Factory pushed it past its ceiling and reshaped his body to match, leaving him a large humanoid insect with very sharp claws. Trigger compounds the effect, swelling him further and honing the blades on his arms.

Fully dosed, he can tear apart pavement with a swing and move quickly enough to stay level with Koichi Haimawari. It is not enough against a top-tier pro. Captain Celebrity handled him without much trouble. Once the drug clears his system, most of that power drains away with it.
