Snipe

Everything about the costume points at an old Western. A tan gas mask of antique design covers his face, tapering forward in a shape not far off a horse's muzzle, with triangular cutouts at the eyes, and silver ear-defenders run by wire to each side of it. What escapes the mask are his dreadlocks, dark and faintly blue, hanging to the shoulders and visible from behind and from the sides. A brown cowboy hat sits on top, its front reinforced with a thick metal plate stamped with a large letter S.

Across his shoulders he wears a heavy red cloak that buttons at the throat and frays out at the hem. Beneath it are a plain black tank top, a piece of white armor buckled across the right half of his chest, plus a brown belt that carries a holster at the hip. His pants are baggy and dark, worn under light brown or yellow chaps in the expected style, and skin-tight black armguards run up to his biceps with tan gloves at the ends. Gray boots finish it, shafts reaching the knee, silver-trimmed vamps dipping slightly at the front, and a spurred heel-band fixed at the back of each.

The cowboy runs deeper than the outfit, showing up in his manner and, in the English dub, in his accent. Heading U.A.'s senior Hero Course students has given him a sharp practical view of how training should work, and he was the one to point out that pitting first years against robots in the Final Exams prepares nobody for the Villains they will actually meet.

Calm judgement is his default. When Present Mic floated the idea that U.A. was harboring a traitor, Snipe talked him down on the grounds that losing faith in one another was a price they could not pay. He also keeps a clear moral line: he said openly that he resented the Hero Public Safety Commission for making Work-Studies compulsory ahead of an expected villain conflict, understanding perfectly well that the point was to fold hero students in as extra bodies.

The composure does break. During his Final Exam bout an elbow of his made accidental contact with the chest of Toru Hagakure, and he panicked and apologized in a rush. He is humble besides, having gone on television to say that Kaina Tsutsumi is the finest long-range hero in the country and that raw skill puts her well beyond him. As he put it, she does what his Quirk does with nothing but talent, from three kilometers out.

Marksmanship Specialist: His aim lives up to the name. He put rounds into Tomura Shigaraki's arms and legs from an extraordinary distance, and he is reckoned the second great marksman in Japan, behind Lady Nagant alone.

Homing: Any target he can see inside six hundred meters can be locked onto, after which whatever he fires pursues it. The Quirk has real gaps. He gets no say in where on the body a projectile lands, and there is not much force behind what he sends.

His equipment covers the rest. He carries a pair of modified guns and handles them expertly. Smoke grenades let him hide his approach or drive enemies out of cover, and they are also why the gas mask is part of the costume in the first place. During the Final Exams he and the other teachers wore High Density Weights as a handicap against their own students.
