Day-Tripping Down to Naniwa!

Miu and Yu are stretching with the East Naruhata High Dance Squad and the Sisters of Saint Lila's Academy when Miu asks where Pop is. Yu lets slip that she has gone to Osaka for an event showcasing local idols, information Makoto specifically asked her to keep quiet to head off a jealous scene. Makoto was too busy to handle Pop herself, so Koichi went in her place, keeping up the manager act. Miu is unimpressed, picturing him blowing the whole trip by fussing over bento boxes until the train leaves without him.

She is exactly right. Koichi sprints after a departing bullet train with an armful of lunch boxes while Pop screams out the window. Makoto tells her to stay calm: she carries every document the trip needs and can reach the venue alone. Then the doors open at Shinagawa Station and an exhausted Koichi steps aboard. He explains he did not outrun the thing: he launched off the platform with Slide and Glide, grabbed on, and discovered the repelling force from his limbs could invert against the train's surface into something closer to a suction cup. Pop wonders whether that counts as a Quirk evolution, though Koichi frames it as a new use he may have been stumbling into unconsciously for years, on tight curves or moving upwind.

Osaka greets them loudly. Koichi tests his new wall crawling on a directory board before a commotion pulls their attention to a fleeing man with Fat Gum on his heels, working through a thirty-six pack of takoyaki and remarking that he arrested the guy on assault not long ago. The suspect fires; Fat Gum bats the bullet aside with one hand, courtesy of Fat Absorption, though the box goes airborne. He disarms the man and flicks him in the face six times, clarifying afterward that not one of those was for the shooting, only for the food. Koichi has already caught every piece, so Fat Gum apologizes for the excess, retrieves his snack, and stuffs a couple of scalding pieces into the criminal's mouth as repayment while the man lies choking in the road. Walking with the pair afterward, he learns they are headed for SS Mall in Super Minami, mentions he is going there too, then catches himself before saying more and gives directions instead.

In the green room, an energetic woman with crab-shaped red hair thanks Pop for coming, mimes claws, then drops her voice and contorts her face into a Heike crab, startling them both. She introduces herself as Monika Kaniyashiki, representing Kanidoge, and blames Tokyo humorlessness when her bits land flat. She figures the local idol craze is coming and intends to ride it, then wanders off to try the same routine on The Willows. Elsewhere in the building, Fat Gum meets Naomasa in a storage room converted into a surveillance post. They are working a major drug trafficking network expected to make a handoff during the event, since short free shows tend to run loose security. Naomasa spots Pop on a green room camera, vaguely recognizes her from Naruhata, and tells his men to keep watch.

Back in Naruhata, Eraser Head runs down the Hotta brothers, Ichiro and Jiro, who inject Trigger and turn into humanoid grasshoppers before diving at him with a synchronized Double Hotta Kick. Erasure and his capturing weapon end it instantly. The chase traces back to a request from Naomasa, made alongside Midnight while discussing Teruo's transformation, that the two gather intelligence on a rumored human experimentation outfit the police internally call the Villain Factory. Eraser Head refused, preferring to arrest people over playing detective, and Midnight pointed out afterward how irreplaceable he is for that kind of work. Now he offers the brothers a deal: he is not police, nothing is recorded, and he will write the attack off as self-defense. They recognize a photo of Kirihito Kamachi as a missing associate, take him to their recycle shop, and describe how Kirihito grew hooked on a dangerous new Trigger mix despite their warnings. They insist they only sell the legal version to men with hair loss and other troubles, which Eraser Head notes they are unlicensed to sell either way, before letting it go. He trades a meeting with Kirihito for details on the new batch and its distribution, then raises the subject of the Crab Route.

At the mall, Monika's handler thanks Pop for covering the slot, admitting Monika is really a traveling saleswoman he listed as an idol to fill out the paperwork, gifted at marketing but prone to vanishing mid-shift without explanation. She is in fact in a restroom supply closet, changing into police gear and reporting in to Fat Gum over an earpiece: an undercover officer on the same bust, still lobbying to perform onstage if a gap opens. She claims she is better suited to idol work than the force; Fat Gum doubts she is qualified for either. Naomasa relays that crates of Kanidoge merchandise have arrived at the entrance, and wants her to verify whether the packages hide drugs dressed up as food so the raid can begin, warning her to be careful alone as she loads her gun.

Koichi discovers Wall Cling, an inverted application of Slide and Glide that lets him adhere to surfaces.

Fat Gum crosses paths with Koichi and Pop in Osaka, and Fat Absorption is introduced.

Monika Kaniyashiki is revealed as an undercover police officer working the drug bust alongside Fat Gum, forcing Pop to cover her act.

Eraser Head defeats the Hotta Brothers and begins investigating the Villain Factory, the adulterated Trigger, and the Crab Route.

The Mascot Idol Carnival begins.

The My Hero Academia: Vigilantes anime returns for its second season here, adapting the opening pages of Chapter 3 along with Chapters 31 through 33. CATCH!!! is the opening theme and Miss you the ending.

The adaptation opens with Koichi narrating the difference between civilian and hero Quirk use, material originally from Chapter 3, and substantially expands the section on vigilantes with a montage of the previous season. Several gags are visualized rather than implied, including Koichi actually missing the train and Fat Gum force-feeding the thug. The meeting about the Villain Factory now happens in a police station rather than at Narufest, which removes Midnight's reassurance to Naomasa. A manga character resembling Monkey D. Luffy was redesigned for the anime.
