Episode 16

Shoto Todoroki opens a lead by freezing a Zero-Point Villain and collapsing it into a wall behind him. Eijiro and Tetsutetsu dig themselves out with nearly identical defensive Quirks, which does nothing for Eijiro's mood, while Katsuki blasts himself over the wreckage through the air with Hanta Sero and Fumikage Tokoyami close behind on Tape and Dark Shadow. Watching from the stands, Snipe notes how many leaders wear Class 1-A colors, and Eraser Head credits the U.S.J. attack for teaching them not to flinch. Izuku carves through a robot with a scrap of plating from Shoto's handiwork, and Momo clears the last of the giants with a cannon she builds on the spot.

The Fall comes next, a canyon crossed only by tightrope. Mei Hatsume treats it as a product demonstration, pitching her support-course gear as the great equalizer while she leaves Mina and Ochaco behind. Shoto clears the canyon first, though Katsuki is closing, and the crowd chatters about the boy's raw ability and about whose son he is. The Mine Field flips the advantage: Shoto has to pick his way through while Katsuki keeps flying, and the two lock into a brawl for the lead, Katsuki still sore that Shoto issued his challenge to Izuku instead of him.

Katsuki's airborne trick gives Izuku his idea. He unearths mines with his metal shard, heaps them together, shields himself with the plate, and rides the blast past both rivals. Momentum fades before the finish, so he shoves off their backs, strikes the shard against the ground to set off the mines ahead, and rockets across the line in first, with Shoto and Katsuki behind him. All Might beams from the stands, noting that selflessness never slowed the boy down, while business-course students grumble that a competitor who never showed his Quirk is impossible to market. Midnight then announces the Cavalry Battle: teams of two to four chase points by stealing headbands, with each rider's value set by their race placement. First place makes Izuku worth ten million on his own, and every remaining student works out that he is the only target that matters.

Mei Hatsume introduces herself to the festival by showcasing her support gear across The Fall, arguing that equipment can close the gap with the hero course.

Izuku wins the Obstacle Race by weaponizing the Mine Field twice over, taking first ahead of Shoto and Katsuki without ever using One For All openly.

Midnight announces the Cavalry Battle for the top forty-two, and Izuku's ten-million-point valuation instantly makes him the whole field's objective.

The third episode of season two adapts chapters 25 and 26. Japanese broadcast was April 15, 2017; the United States air date was August 25, 2018. Peace Sign opens and That's Why I'm Not Alone closes.

Present Mic's illustrated explanation of the race is more detailed on screen, and the timing shifts: the manga has Izuku still on The Fall when the lead is announced, while the anime already has him heading for the minefield.
